If you count being 'normal' as having a dead mother and a seemingly always drunk father, then I was normal. So, basically, I wasn't normal. It was just normal for me.

I always walked around at night, because a) I needed 'me' time, b) I needed a break from my father, and c) I always wanted to save people. Yeah, that last one's a little confusing. Let me explain.

1. I live in the city. 2.Which means there are a lot of not-a-really-good-influence kind of people. 3.And that means there are a lot of victims. 4.Which also means I can try my best to help them.

So that's what I did. When my mom was still alive, she took me to martial art practices. When she died, my dad could barely supply the 2 of us with food and pay the bills for our house. Understandably, he made me quit the practice. But I still remember how to do stuff, so I was safe unless they had a gun. I can't stop a bullet.

Mostly, I just stood up for a person who was about to get robbed, or prevented guys from harassing girls at night and stuff, but there was this one time I got caught by the police for helping someone...

It was a particularly hard night, where my father was yelling and spilling alcohol everywhere, so I left the house earlier than usual when he wasn't looking. I was just kind of walking down in valleys and dark corners where I, for some weird reason, felt safe and comfortable and stumbled across a gang that was trying to force this one kid to buy some drugs. I don't know why the gang was doing that, but I knew the kid was sane because he was trying to say no one thousand times in one thousand different ways.

I counted 3, maybe 4 people in the group.

I figured it would be easier to take the drug than to take on all of them. I sneaked behind the one with the drugs (most likely the leader), and miraculously, nobody noticed me. When the kid finally noticed, his eyes widened, but he kept quiet.

Smart dude.

I swiped the leader right off his feet and snatched the drugs. And I ran like crazy. I sensed the other members not chasing me but goggling at me, dumbstruck. The leader groaned on the ground. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the kid sneakily run out of sight. Good.

But then, out of nowhere, a police officer intercepted me.

"Well, well, well," She said, like when the antagonist in a movie caught a person they wanted to kill badly. "Look what we've got here."

The cop dragged me to her car and tossed me in the back seat. "Wait here," She said.

I don't know what would have happened to me if I had stayed, but in the end, whatever would've happened didn't happen.

Instead, Melody Woods happened.

-----

Melody Woods is what most guys would call beautiful, cute, or hot. Or all three. Girls would call her a dumb girly cheerleader type girl (which she is not, by the way, but dresses like one. Mel was wearing a tight hot pink tank top and skinny jeans that day). She has wavy brunette hair that hangs down to her waist. Well, had. Later, she cut it chin-length and dyed it black. At the time, though, she had long brunette hair. Melody-or Mel, as she insisted to be called-has long skinny legs, long skinny arms, a small face with acne-free skin, and soft curves. She has insecurities about mostly all of her qualities. It doesn't matter what you tell her, she will always be at least a tiny bit insecure. For one, Mel doesn't like her freckles, although I'd say the majority of people would call them cute.

Anyways, that's how I met her. In the backseat of a cop car.

Long story short, she convinced me to run, because it was complicated when police got involved. Then the woman came, and Mel told her this totally fake story about me being her brother, and that she wanted to make a short film about a 'superhero', and used me as an actor, making me run around with a bag full of what 'looked like' drugs. "I know it's realistic, but I'm great at making things look realistic," she said, and flashed the cop her sweetest, most innocent-looking smile. The cop looked suspicious, but let us off with a warning.
