Embers In The Stars

Chapter One

Robin was currently at Mount Justice with Aqualad, Miss Martian, Kid Flash, Superboy and of course, Batman. They were going to go to the beach, but there had been a mission alert just as they stepped foot on the sand and they had to go back and change into their uniforms. They had been standing in front of Batman in the control centre as he explained what the mission was.

"Team, it has come to our attention that CADMUS may be hiding another project in one of their locations--" Batman started as he stood there in his all black uniform before he was interrupted by Kid Flash who just couldn't seem to keep the comment to himself.

Kid Flash had been eating a bag of crunchy Cheetos and his eyes widened just slightly when the big Bat said that CADMUS had yet another project that they were hiding from people. "Wait, seriously? How many people does Lex have in his basement, exactly? Sheesh!" He commented and he swallowed nervously when he saw that signature death glare that Batman would give, and he threw his Cheeto bag as the others either shook their heads at him, rolled their eyes, or both simultaneously.

"As I was saying." Batman started again and he turned the screen on with the remote and he continued. "We believe that he is creating another weapon, but whether or not this weapon is another clone or not, we don't know. Your mission is a simple rescue and receive as much information as you can mission." He said and he glanced at Superboy with the last thing that he said, and as always he had a serious expression and tone that he had whenever they talked about a mission. "Do not engage unless it is absolutely necessary." He then told them as he left the images on the screen for them to read and memorise. 

Connor rolled his eyes a little when Batman looked at him while he said that. He understood that he needed to get a hold of his temper, it wasn't exactly a secret that he had anger issues. But the others had problems, too! So why did he look at just him when he said that? 

Megan could tell that Connor was somewhat hurt about the fact that he had been pretty much outed by Batman and she smiled softly before she used her powers to try and say some words that might comfort him. 'It's okay, Superboy. We'll help you as much as we can.' She told him and she still had a small smile on her face while she looked at him. And she was relieved that he seemed too calm down after hearing what she had to say. Not like she gave him much choice, but still. 

Since they got what they needed for the mission, the others went to go get prepared for it. And Kid Flash was bummed out that it wasn't a mission where he got permission to punch people, but he would live. 

Robin was getting his suit on and he was wondering what exactly CADMUS had been hiding this time. Maybe it was another clone like Superboy was, or maybe something else entirely. Either way, he would do his best to make Batman proud.
