Longing

I swam around my tank like usual trying to find any way out of it I had been in here for years now... When I was first caught I was only a mere guppy. Now I'm fifteen and my senses are trying to locate my fated one. But I already know who my fated one is.

Despite the number of humans that come here every day to cater for me there is one that sticks out... He looks a few years older than me - I don't know his name but he has blonde spikey hair and a rough expression. He's very well built and has been here watching me for as long as I can remember. He isn't one of the carers that I have but he seems to be related to the main woman who runs this facility.

I heard the high pitched frequency and covered my ears looking up as they dropped in some fish for me, I swam up quickly and jumped catching one in my mouth before going back down to the lower depths of my tank to eat it in peace. I went after another one and the last two I left for later. My tank was basically empty apart from a small cave that I could hide in, but I'm getting too big for it now.

I noticed two men in white and swam for my cave curling up as tightly as possible to hide. I watched as their mouths moved and they approached the glass. A man in black holding my main carers arm tightly - Mitsuki - I only know her name as when I was a guppy she told me it before she put me in my tank. A doctor hit the glass and she seemed mad and the man held an object to her head.

I got curious and I knew they couldn't get to me so I crept out of my cave and swam over putting my hand on the glass, Mitsuki putting her hand on mine with a sad smile. The doctor hitting the glass harshly and I jumped back swimming away quickly and hiding, the vibrations hurting my ears. Who are they...

{Mistuki P.O.V.}

"Katsuki! You're gonna be late for class!" I yelled up to him. I heard a growl and I sighed grabbing my coat. My husband sat on the couch reading the newspaper before he had to leave for work. "I'm leaving honey. Make sure he goes to class otherwise he isn't allowed to my work over the weekend." I told him.

"Yes, honey." He smiled kissing my cheek. I smiled and sighed leaving for work.

I wonder how the little guy is going - I say little but he's grown a lot. I need to get him some upgrades but the funding for this project isn't doing so well - If I can't prove that he can at least communicate with us then they'll abolish the project... meaning they'll kill him.

I turned into the car park and saw the few cars like usual and used my lanyard to scan in walking down and smiling at my co-workers.

"How's he doing?" I asked leaning over one of the ladies to see the CCTV screens.

"He seems very active recently like he's looking for something - and he won't come up to the surface unless it's feeding time." She stated, typing a few things up on the computer next to her and pressing a button - the Merman finding as he looked up.

"He may respond but I think the frequency is too high - try turning it down next feeding time okay," I said watching.

"Mitsuki look!" Someone yelled as he jumped out of the water and caught a fish in his mouth.

"He's such a beautiful creature."

"Yes, he is." I agreed, smiling.

"Your son seems very interested in him as well." She added.

"He is yes, But he isn't interested in the field of work. You could say he's more interested in the boy's abilities."

"Like quirks? We never even considered if he had one."

"I mean it's hard to test him for one when he has a different skeletal system and the only x-ray we have of him is from ten years ago." I sighed.

"It is kinda hard to catch him."

"We need his trust - I don't care what the higher-ups say he isn't a lab rat he's a sentient being that has feelings." I huffed.

"Mitsuki Bakugo?" I turned around and saw two men in white coats and a man in black who aimed a gun at me.

"What do you want?" I growled.

"We want to see this creature you're keeping." A doctor smiled. I growled and the man in black grabbed me.

I took them down to the lowest level and then kicked the screen.

"Don't he doesn't like the vibrations!" I growled.

"Then get him here!" Another seethed the man in black holding the gun to my head.

"Woah."

I looked forwards as the doctors went quiet and saw the boy with his hand against the glass staring at me - not paying the others any attention. I leant down and placed my hand on his and gave him a sad smile.

"Hah!" One of the doctors yelled - slamming his hands not the glass. "We were told you were crazy - but I see you really do have a monster in your hands."

"He isn't a monster!"

"Sure, he isn't." One said turning.

"We'll be back tomorrow to collect him."

"What?" I gasped looking at the three.

"He's being relocated to a science zoo - where something like him belongs, after all, your company is handing this case over to us." They flashed their lanyards at me and I tutted. NARS National Animal Rescue Service... the only animal rescue that put them on display in a zoo and mistreats them for science.

I growled as they walked away and thought for a moment... How do I protect him from them?... I need to get him to the surface so I can get him out of here quickly.
