SUMMARY:

Jacqueline Anderson was one special girl, everyone at Hogwarts could agree. She was that seemingly magic blend of all four houses, one of the people the Sorting Hat had spent the longest on. With the passion of a Gryffindor, the grit of a Hufflepuff, the cleverness of a Ravenclaw, the cunning of a Slytherin, and her own special secret, she was a formidable foe. There was only one problem. She wasn't brave enough to face the world.

Jacqueline Anderson was afraid, to put it simply. Everything she had was based on one small, insignificant thing. One small, insignificant secret. A secret that could destroy her.

So she kept quiet. She kept her gift to herself and her thoughts inside her head. People liked to tease her, a few annoying Gryffindor's especially. They'd come up to her, insult and laugh at how she wouldn't respond. How she loathed having to kept to herself. How she loathed James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. Remus Lupin was alright, he always gave her a kind smile and attempted to stop his friend, although he never succeeded. All she wanted was to scream to the world: this is who I am. But she couldn't. She bore it all in silence, never returning Remus's smiles even though he never stopped giving them.

When Jacqueline finished her fifth year, the light in the world was starting to fade. She was pulled away immediately, her family afraid of what might happen if they stayed. They were too powerful to be used by those who wished harm.

Jacqueline wanted to stay and fight. She'd grown to care about those she knew, one man in particular. The one with the kind smiles and the secret of his own, the secret she never asked about, because he never asked about hers. Yet she couldn't escape her family, and found herself pulled from the place - and the people - she most desperately wanted to be with.
