This is based solely on my own personal experiences with ADHD and Anxiety
Y/n pov
I get back to the compound after a tiring day at school. My bag still on my shoulder, I got to the fridge for a snack.
"Hey Y/n, how was school?" I hear Sam ask. "Don't wanna talk about it." I say bluntly grabbing my snack and heading to my room.
Long story short, due to my ADHD I tend to struggle in school and never really want to talk about it. I feel stupid.
Some time has past and I'm currently in my room struggling with my homework. I get up and grab my textbooks and my notebook and go to the living room area.
I feel ashamed having to ask for help but I SUCK at math.
I get out of the elevator and scan the area, I spot Bucky, Steve and Sam, all chatting. I walk over and slam my notebook on the table with tears in my eyes.
"I hate school, I hate it, math sucks, trigonometry can die!-" I choke in my tears.
"Hey, hey, calm down kiddo. Take some deep breaths for me." Steve instructs me. I nod and sit down on the couch, scratching my nails against my thighs, as I catch my breath.
Bucky's pov
Sam leans over to me, as we watch Y/n calm down.
"What the heck is happening?" Sam asks, concerned. I realize he was never told about Y/n's mental struggles.
"They have ADHD and tend to have breakdowns, especially over school." I whisper to him, watching Steve rub their back as he helps them with their homework.
"How come I was never told about this?" Sam questions. "They don't like talking about it, they get embarrassed and they don't want pity." I respond.
Sam nods his head.
Third person pov
After Y/n calm down, they get up and start walking around as they mindlessly browse their phone.
The men sit and watch in curiously. "Y/n, what I the hell are you doing?" Clint asks, as him, Nat and Wanda, walk into the room.
"Getting the jitters out." They say as they put their phone in their back pocket.
They start shaking their hands and bouncing on their feet. "You know, one time Peter and I went to the mall and we saw someone who looked just like Sharon, but it like wasn't her." They ramble.
They all giggle at the story and the naive child.
Y/n pov
Dinner time rolls around and we sit at the table, eating. Steve is telling some sort of story that I am trying to focus on but can't.
How old is Steve actually? Do squirrels have feelings? Can people actually fly? Do snails feel pain?
"Y/n!" I hear Tony yell, startling me. I hum in response.
"Are you done your dinner?" Nat asks. I nod, staring blankly at the wall.
I shake my head to regain focus and I get up, bringing my plate to the sink.
"Y/n, did you take your meds?" I hear Bucky ask. "Oh shit no." I say bluntly. "Shouldn't you take them?" Sam asks. I roll my eyes. "I don't wanna they make me feel weird." I whine.
"But they will make you better." Bruce states. "I don't wanna feel better, I wanna be normal and not be a robot!" I yell, frustrated.
They all stop and look at me. Some time, passes and I leave the room as if nothing happened. I go and sit in the living room.
