It all felt strangely warm.

The mansion had been rather cold as of late because of the leaving winter and the upcoming spring season but for some reason, it felt warm. Like a comforting warmth. Someone wrapping you into their embrace, or a cozy blanket graced you for slumber. A fire burning and popping furiously in its nest. So soothing that she did not want to open her eyes to see what was so warm. But alas she opens her strawberry irises to most likely see her husband sleeping beside her.

She didn't.

Eve found herself back in the place that started all of her turmoil and sorrow. The Garden of Eden. The warmth that she once felt was gone once a cold chill ran down her spine. She worriedly looks around while hugging herself for her own solace. Shakily standing, a small gust of wind blowing blows up her nightgown to which she does a small yelp. She jerks away from wherever she was to turn around and see that beautiful but awful tree. It had bloomed so nicely after she made her final decision. Everything around her was in bloom, in fact. Grass tickled her bare feet whenever she walked while more weeds and flowers grew in her wake, and apples would grow from the tree as well. Just like in the story she was taught as a child. But this was no time to reminisce. Why was she back here? Why did it feel so cold?

Suddenly an apple dropped and rolled to her feet. Eve goes to pick it up to find that it had rotten from the inside out. For whatever it was its darkness started to spread around the apple and Eve drops it, taking a few steps back.

"...Eve?"

She looks behind her but no one was there.

"Eve..? Are you who I'm seeking?"

She circles around with hands gripping onto her form for dear life and she falls to the ground, shaking.

"Please don't be frightened."

The voice was right on top of her. Or rather in front of her. Eve looks up to see a person that she had never seen before, have an outstretched hand given to her. The sun was overshadowing his face but just by the presence alone, Eve knew she had no idea who he was.

"Can you come with me?"

She stares at him in awe. Like she was blinded by the sun.

"Eve?"
"Eve?"
"...ui..."

"Yui..!"

Her eyes flew open and she sits up in fright, breathing heavily. She looks around the grand bedroom and stops to look at her right to see her husband standing there with a tray of breakfast waiting for her, tea included.

"Reiji-san..."

"You're awfully pale today. Did you have a nightmare?"

Yui's eyes look away for a moment. When trying to recall the aforementioned person in the beaming sun, she couldn't. The face was just a blur. A scratched-out record with no music to play. Their voice didn't come to her. She nods though absentmindedly and looks up at her Adam.

"I see. You have been sick for the past few days. It is no wonder you are having such things. You needn't get so upset over these nightmares." He comments and sets the tray down, grabbing the teacup along with its silver dish. "Please eat slowly and take it easy, alright? I do not need you to be doing so much." Reiji says.

Yui takes the tea and nods again. "Thank you, Reiji-san...I'll do my best to get better. I want to keep helping you with everything that's going on--"

"There is no need. I can handle everything myself. Though, I will admit sometimes I do miss you beside me while I attend my meetings and attending to my work." He chuckles at the thought and places a gloved hand on his beloved blonde head.

"Please do not worry about me, alright? I will be eagerly waiting for your recovery." His smile quickly turns serious. "If you do not recover as soon as this week ends, I will see to it I make whatever I can to help you."

Yui giggles and places one of her hands on his hand, blushing. "I'll be okay. I'm sure I'll get better soon." Reiji does a smile again and brushes some of his long hair behind his ear and leans down to kiss his wife.

"I will protect you. You are forever safe in my arms, Yui."

Nothing good has come out of her sickness. Unfortunately to Reiji's dismay, natural medicine was not working so he decided to take matters into his own hands and examine his Eve himself to find out what was the reason or cause. It was an ongoing investigation all the while she remained in her bed. Even the brothers who had come to visit on occasion were worry upon told. She was not in pain nor was she suffering. She was severely lacking energy, beginning to fall down wherever she went, and faint. Yui starts to wonder why she rejected the idea of becoming a vampire with her Adam. She thought it was a wise decision and wanted to keep her humanity while still being with the one she loved regardless of the consequences. Perhaps this was karma for doing such an obscene thing as the Demon World would call it. Yui relaxes in her bed as the nights go by. Reiji hadn't been coming to bed for a couple of days now, doing restless research about what was wrong with his wife.

Tormented by how she was doing nothing, Yui decides to defy her husband's suggestions and goes to visit his study. Her nightgown drags off the bed and she quickly puts on a long scarf to cover her already cold arms. She exits their bedroom and quickly makes haste to his study until she thinks she hears a soft church bell ringing. Shrugging it off as her mind playing tricks with her she continues to walk.

It got louder. And louder as she progressed.
To the point where a migraine was starting to form.

This was only bringing painful memories of how she was first kidnapped by the Mukami family. Kidnapped by anyone in the pursuit to use her heart and power for themselves. Nothing but awful memories. It only made her heart feel heavy more thinking about it. Endless death and suffering all for her sake.

"...I do not want her to become a Ghoul..."

...What?

Yui was inches away from his study. The door was creaked open.

"I don't want her to die...why did she have to..." Reiji slams his fist on a table and throws his papers on the ground. His long hair that was tied up to not get into his face was starting to get in his line of sight, only aggravating the powerful royal vampire more.

Why was suffering still happening? To everyone? To us?
Hadn't we have enough? She thinks feeling tears brim up in frustration.

I want to help you.

She looks over her shoulder and down the dark corridor, dim lighting provided by torches.

Who said that?

I want to help you.

You really would? To save him from this grief?

As if persuaded to walk, her feet start to move nonchalantly down the corridor and outside into the garden. Was hypnotism? No...this was her own free will. Her own choice. She had sworn since the very beginning.

If my blood is so precious, I'll choose who gets to take it!

With a determined stare, her migraine grows more strongly and she feels her knees starting to give out. Begging for her body to rest, too much strain she has done. For once in several days she has felt pain. Pain from the sickness she has been enduring. It was not until now it started to overwhelm her.

Call out my name and I will help you.

"What is your name?"

A fuzzy static infiltrates her ears and she winces, holding her head while she struggles to keep ahold of her scarf. Yui breathes in deeply and closes her eyes. The name was sketched out right in front of her in the darkness. She reaches out for that apple, cradling it.

Opening her mouth.

"...Lucifer."

Crunch!

A strong gust of wind blows past Yui and she squeezes her eyes tighter, utterly terrified what in God's name what she was going to see.

"...You must be the one they call Eve, correct?"

The voice that was in her dreams. It was all coming back to her. The one in the light. The one who held out their hand.

Yui could do nothing but open her eyes and look up to see a tall man, dressed in black with four beautiful onyx wings glistening in the rays of the full moon behind them. She was in awe like before. Not attracted-- but, amazed. She had never seen someone like this before. Not even all the times she had been through.

"Y-Yes, I am Eve. You're going...to help my husband, right? You're going to help me and my husband sort out this grief? To find out what is wrong with me?" Yui asks, persistent.

Lucifer chuckles and nods, crossing his strong arms together. "I thought you would be soft-spoken. But this is a nice change of pace." He then holds out an outstretched hand and Yui stares at it and then back at him, determined as ever.

"I will help you with your concerns and in return, you will help me. Are we clear?"

Whatever it was to Eve, it didn't matter. It did not matter what the consequences were. As long as Reiji and her can live a happy life without any worry. As long as he is safe. That is all she can ever think about. His smile...oh how she wished to see him smile once more.

"Well, my Eve?"

"Yes." Yui nods. "I will go with you and help you with whatever you need." She goes to take his hand and a magic circle surrounds them, her headache growing even stronger but Yui only gripped onto his hand even tighter.

"My name is Yui Komori."

Lucifer grins and pulls Eve into his embrace.

"Good evening to you then, Yui."
