When flowers bloom, they're usually beautiful. They're coloured with so many different palettes, so many different shades, so much beauty in one simple thing given by nature itself. The type of flowers that'd bloom through the roots of the earth, that is.
The ones that grow inside your lungs are the ones that you'd have to be careful of.
They seem so much like normal flowers, so colourful and beautiful, but they curse you with imminent death. The hanahaki disease is something anybody can catch, whether you be a woman, a man, elderly or young. All you have to do is fall in love, and if the person you love doesn't love you back, flower petals begin to grow in your lungs until you cough them out, then it just repeats until a full flower forms.
There is a surgery, but if you choose to take it, you'll lose all love for that person. The only way you can get a happy end is if the person you love returns your feelings.
Luckily, Kuroo hasn't been in love since highschool, if that's what you want to call it, at least. So how could he suffer from a disease caused by unrequited love?

"Kuroo-san!" The small, orange haired boy came running up to Kuroo, his MSBY jersey half tucked into his shorts, and one shoelace undone.
"Hey, Chibi-chan! Long time no see!" Kuroo said, smiling brightly.
It was the MSBY Black Jackals first official match, Kuroo, and a few other people from high school, had come to watch. He could already see a few friends sitting in the stands on the sides of the court.
"Did you hear who was coming today?" Hinata asked, looking a little energetic. Must've been somebody special.
"Who?"
"Kenma! He flew out to Miyagi this morning to watch the game!" Kuroo's eyes widened, he hadn't spoken to Kenma in years. He still had his number, but he never bothered to text, nor did he get any texts from Kenma?
"Wait, Kenma didn't tell you?"
"Ah- no.. We kind of stopped talking after I graduated, guess he was just too busy." Kuroo frowned, his childhood best friend, whom he hadn't talked to in years, was finally coming home, and Kuroo didn't even know.
"Oh, I'm sorry.. Well, anyways, he'll probably be here soon, maybe you guys can catch up!"
"Yeah, maybe." Kuroo looked out onto the court, he could already see Bokuto jumping all over Akaashi, Sakusa backing away from Atsumu, and the rest of the team stretching like they were meant to be doing.
"Alright, I have to go now, we have to go stretch. If you do end up talking to Kenma, tell him I said hi, and that I'll talk to him after the game!" Before Kuroo could speak, Hinata was already rushing off to the court.
Kuroo looked down at the ground, he had a strange feeling in his chest. Maybe because his best friend of 10 years had abandoned him? Maybe it was because he had spoken to Hinata over the years and not him?
He was snapped back into reality by feet coming into sight in front of him, he looked up to see Akaashi.
"You seem a little down, Kuroo-san, what happened?" Akaashi asked, pushing up his glasses, his golden ring shining on his left finger.
"Nothing really, just that Kenma's coming to the match today.."
"Why would you be upset about that? Aren't you happy that you'll finally get to see your best friend again?"
Akaashi was right, Kuroo shouldn't feel upset that Kenma is coming back, he should be happy!
"I actually don't know, maybe its just the memories flooding back. I'm completely fine Akaashi, don't worry about me."
