When wei ying had brought a bunny into the jingshi to keep him company as he worked on his new talisman, he hadn't expected things to turn out like this.

Lan wangji had left early, like he usually did, to take care of his duties as a chief cultivator leaving behind a pouty wei ying who was once again bored out of his mind.

Sure he could continue on with his new experiment but having no one to reply to his constant ramblings as he did his work was no fun. Wei ying agreed his husband wasn't much of a talker but at least he would hum whenever wei ying would say something or kiss him in appreciation whenever he would proudly show his husband the development in his work.

But it seemed like these days lan zhan gave more attention to his duties than his own- very needy and attention hungry husband. Today wei ying had finally had enough of being ignored. He could very well keep himself entertained without the help of his husband.

Let lan zhan be engrossed in his work, wei ying would show him that he didn't need the stoic jade to shower him with kisses to keep himself content. He could go on with his day just fine even without his husband's constant pampering.

Yes, wei ying was aware he was being overdramatic but did he care? No!

So wei ying decided having bunnies with him to squish and smooch as he took breaks in between working on his invention was a great idea. He quickly scrambled off his bed and ventured towards the mountains.

Walking hurriedly with a skip in his step and greeting juniors as he passed by them, wei ying finally arrived where the bunnies were kept.

He cooed at the sight of a dozen fluff balls bouncing on their little feet, climbing and falling off of each other as they fought for the pieces of leaves that had fallen onto the rough ground.
Their little round butts with pom-pom tails attached to them wiggled as they moved around which made wei ying clutch his heart at the cuteness.

Suddenly playing with the bunnies seemed a better idea than spending time with his husband (his inner conscience disagreed but wei ying was too salty to admit it out loud).

He was about to pick the fluffiest one amongst the pile when his eyes fell on a lone ball of fur sitting at a far corner, quietly observing the others. Wei ying concluded it was either too lazy to participate in the hunt for food or it had been shunned out of the group, probably because of it's different color.

Wei ying was too lazy to give it much thought so he just picked the black one in his hands and left the others to play amongst themselves, mumbling something along the lines of 'stupid teenage years' and 'stupid memories' as he walked away.

He hid the small rabbit in his robes and continued back to the cloud recesses, giggling quietly along the way as the animal moved around a little tickling him in the process.

Wei ying thought he would just say that he was bloated from eating too much fruits on his way back from the mountains should a disciple question his sudden change in appearance. Thankfully no one did, probably because he showed them his big glossy eyes and pouty lips whenever someone opened their mouth to ask him anything.

It was also probably because they were afraid to anger hanguang jun— should wei ying go running to him with fat tears trickling down his rosy cheeks as he sobbed about how the disciples called him fat. Whatever may the reason be, they left the man alone as he trudged back to the jingshi.

When wei ying shut the door of the jingshi, he heaved a sigh of relief and snuck his hand inside his robes to catch the bunny. He held it with his hands and brought it out to rest it on his palm. Wei ying nudged the bunny's pink button nose with his own before placing it by the table.
