The Life She Lived
She struggles to take her last gasp of fresh air, the only thing moving is her pupils back and forth, all over the cold, dark room. She stares at the snow, white ceiling and as she looks to her right, she can see the cold ice falling out of the gray, gloomy sky. Silence is her only company that day, the room still as ever, in the afternoon. Snow covered trees surround the backyard, as does the storm above that is closing in on the small town. A tidal wave of memories come flooding back, making her flinch slightly. As her life is coming to an end, she remembers everything that made her different throughout her entire life.
She places her hand on the wooden bar and constantly repeats inside her head, “Kick higher”. Looking to her right she sees the other girls kicking, kick after kick, they make it look so easy to her. She notices them in their black leotards and a wave of sadness rushes over her as she looks down at herself. She looks back into the mirror across from her, she sees someone she hates, someone she can’t love. Her eyes display only sadness, but she fakes a pearly, white smile anyways.
Time passes and she’s growing up, but not into someone she wants to be. She constantly wears baggy clothes and fights the voice within her head. She knows people love her deep down, but she can’t help but hate the person she sees within the mirror. She doesn’t eat and she doesn’t talk. She doesn’t have friends anymore, she’s more alone than ever. She fakes the smile anyways.
After having enough of herself and the world around her, she found those pills in the cabinet and took one too many. She laid to rest on her soft baby blue bed, only to never wake up again. Her life was a tragic one, but yet she didn’t realize how many people around her actually love her.
