Though still very young, her wings never gave way to the pain Jewel felt flying as fast as she was. Roberto was very special, and for him to be captured? That was the worst news ever to her.

She came back home panicked, out of breath, and crying for her father. "Daddy!"

"Jewel!" Eduardo returned. "Oh, am I glad you're ok." There were tears in his eyes.

"Dad, Roberto was captured by the humans," Jewel told him.

"I know, my girl. But I've gotten worse news. Half of our tribe was killed across the grove, including George." Eduardo hung his head and hugged his daughter. "Leadership has been transferred to me."

"I'm scared, daddy," Jewel cried.

"Me too, Jewel. Me too..."

Feathers everywhere. A little patch of red here and there. No signs of life anywhere, save for the evil glare of the bird responsible for this nightmare. He stood tall in the shadows, looking down upon what he called his masterpiece; a partially successful plan. But he was still frustrated that his plan was not entirely complete. He turned to face the one survivor, his captive, Andrea.

"I must say, you have been smart. Very smart, but not smart enough," the bird gloated. "I know you've hidden them somewhere; somewhere far from here. You know there is not one place on this planet I will not find them."

"I will not tell you where they are, even if you broke my wings and tossed me in a river," she retorted.

"That's fine by me," he answered. "But soon enough, my army will find them, no matter where you've hidden them. I've trained them well."

"Good luck with that."
