Queen Narella read the law over and over weeping. She had helped her husband, King Dunkan, write the law. Agreeing with it fully and encouraging him to declare it law of the land. Now that her only child has broken the code she is in complete devastation.

He had come to her that morning. In tears he explained what he had done. "I am in love." He had said. The Queen shivered as she remembered her response. "Jasbear that's wonderful. Who is the lucky girl."Jasbear's eyes had overflowed. "what is it my dear?" She had asked. "Promise me you won't tell father." Jasbear had insisted. And she had given her word. She remembered the nausea rocketing throughout her body when she heard her son say that the one he loves is a man. He had refused to give the name of his so called 'one and only'. This fact made her angry and proud. The pride she had in Jasbear's refusal made her sick and even more angry.

"Ma'am?" a voice said. The Queen looked up to see a young servant at the door. "Are you alright Ma'am?

"Yes, I'm fine. Thank you." Narella responded quickly. The servant bowed and left closing the doors behind her.

Narella collected her self and went out into the garden. She always felt at home here. The smell of the flowers and the beauty of it all filled her heart with joy. But today was different. Nothing seamed beautiful. Even with the roses in full bloom. She sat on her favorite bench and looked around her. The paths were neat and well kept. The pond to her left was clean and bubbled with fish. Yet the sick feeling would not go. It plagued her. She knew what she had to do legally. She was required to report Jasbear. Yet she sat weighting her options. Finally she decided that she would not tell a soul. She would try and get her son to turn him self in. It is more noble to own up to such a sickening thing.

Looking up at the sun Narella knew that lunch would be served soon. She headed up the path towards the dining hall. This can wait until after lunch. Narella thought. Anyway I will think better on a full tummy.

As she walks up the stairs she can here lunch being served. She is late. But whats worse is she can here both Dunkan and Jasbear. She stops unsure of what to do. Can I stay clam? She questions her self. I have to. It would be odd not to show for lunch. Although I could always say I lost track of time in the garden. I have done that so often they won't question it. Well Jasbear might. She takes a deep breath and opens the door.

At the sight of her son Narella blushes and looks away. "Oh there you are my dear." king Dunkan smiles looking up. "You simply must try this soup. It is delicious."

"It smells wonderful" Narella agrees. "I'm going to use the powder room and I will be right back." With that Narella hurried off to the Powder room. Locking the door behind her she leans agents the wall. Admiring the new tile she tried to breath. She thought about how much she loved her little Jasbear. I can't hurt him. Not to mention the destruction of the country if this gets out.

Taking a deep breath Narella walks to the sink. Splashing water on her face she looks in the mirror. Her beauty was stunning but she had lost her youthful glow. No more children. Thats what the doctor said this morning. Narella dried her face and hands, straitened her dress and perfected her hair. With one last deep breath she unlocks the door and heads to lunch.

"There you are honey." Dunkan smiled. "waiter? Bring a boll of the chief's latest creation for my lovely wife."

"Yes. Right away sir." the waiter responded.

"Sit down my dear, my dear." Dunkan called to Narella who was still standing agents the wall. Moving slowly Narella made her way to the table and took her seat between Dunkan and Jasbear. "Narella? Honey are you alright?" King Dunkan asked. "You look a bit green."

"I'm alright Dunkan. Just eat." Narella squeaked.

The waiter returned with a huge bowl of steaming hot soup. Placing it in front of Narella he asked "can I get anyone anything else?"

"Some hot bread sticks please" Narella voiced. She smiled to herself. This soup may be just what I need.
