"Jaz, are you ready?" Amelia asked, walking into the little room we shared.

"I think so, I am a little worried about it all but I have mother's book so it will be fine." I replied, picking up my tiny bag.

"Come on then, we can't be late," she said with a small frown.

We ran down the stairs and out to the front garden. One of the footmen took us to the High Lord's castle.

We walked in silence as we were shown to our room. Once I had put my bag on my bed I went down to the kitchen, master wanted me to make the cake for the High Lords meeting.

The head cook scanned me for a bit when I told her who I was.

"You can't be the one making the cake," she sneered.

"I am Miss," I replied.

"When they kill you for it being rubbish don't blame me," she told me before waving a hand to the pile of ingredients.

I walked over and began making my seven layers, one for each court. I was told the only rule was that the bottom tier had to be Autumn.

I began to sing, making the cakes from my mother's recipe book, this was like second nature now and I had them all in the oven on time. While they were baking, I began making the decorations that needed to set over night.

For Autumn I was just going to pipe on flames, Winter had handmade snowflakes, so I had to sit and make each one of them.

For Spring I made flowers, no two were the same and by the end I was running out of ideas, but I made them all.

For Summer I was going to make a beach, then for detailing I made chocolate shells.

Next was Dawn, for that the easiest thing to do was make a sunrise. I wasn't sure how to detail it, so I decided that I was going to leave it plain.

For Day I made glittery gold chocolate disks and was going to cover the entire surface of the cake in them.

Then finally for Night I made tiny chocolate stars, then covered each of them in silver.

The next day it was actually time to put the cake together. I decorated each layer separately, starting with the base colour of each. White, blue, light blue, an ombre of dark blue to light blue to a sandy colour, another ombre this time light blue to pin to yellow to orange. White then black.

Once I had done that I could add my details. I piped on the flames with no problems before moving onto the next layer of the cake. Once I had placed all of the snowflakes, I placed that on top of the Autumn layer.

I then piped on the flower stems before placing each flower and putting that layer on the cake. It didn't take me long to put on the shells for Summer before I put that layer on followed immediately by Dawn.

For Day I carefully put all of the gold disks on before putting on that layer then I began painstakingly placing on each star for Night.

Once I had finished and put each layer on, I stood back. I felt like Autumn and Winter were missing something, so I cut up a couple of my spare gold disks and put them within the fire for Autumn then I put a couple of Night's stars within the snowflakes for winter.

I was just about to put on the last few stars when I had the sickening feeling of darkness pressing in like it does when we travel long distances.
