"jeongguk, help me move the goddamn bed, for fuck's sake!"
"alright, geez, i'm coming."
jeongguk walked over to where his best friend, taehyung, was struggling to push his new twin bed against the side of the wall. with a grunt, they both managed to move the bed to where they wanted it to be.
taehyung sighed, dramatically flopping on the bed. "this is it, jeongguk. our sophomore year of college has officially started. no more stinky freshman dorms or community bathrooms..."
"it sucks that we didn't get to pick our roommates, though," jeongguk sighed, sitting down next to him.
taehyung turned to him, an annoyed look on his face. "and who's fault is that?"
"hey! i didn't know that there weren't enough spots available for us to room together when i signed up," jeongguk shot back.
"you signed up two. months. late. obviously the bed i was trying to reserve for you next to mine would be taken."
"whatever. you know i'll always be over at your place 24/7 anyway."
"dang. so you're saying i won't be able to get rid of you?"
jeongguk shot him a glare in response, and taehyung laughed.
"kidding! who's your roommate anyway?" taehyung asked, still lying on his back, playing with the zipper on his jacket.
"i don't know. a senior named park jimin, apparently."
"a senior?!"
"yeah. i know. we usually don't get seniors as roommates. it's odd."
"probably 'cause you signed up late and this was the only other room available, dumbass."
"okay! my bad. can we move past this already?"
"nope. everytime you bring up how bad your roommate is, i'm bringing this up. be grateful you even got a room after being that late."
jeongguk rolled his eyes. "whatever."
taehyung was silent for a minute. then, with a long sigh, he sat up and slid off the bed. "alright, i should get going back to my own room. hoseok said he needed help with putting up some decorations on our wall. anyway, you're coming to the opening party with me tonight, aren't you? it's the first party of the year and it's gonna be hosted by some of the upperclassmen."
"uhh..."
"come on, jeongguk. there'll be cute girls..." taehyung wiggled his eyebrows. when jeongguk stayed silent, he burst out "please! you're coming. for me. i don't care. i'm dragging you with me."
jeongguk sighed in defeat. "fine."
"good. now, go shower and wear something nice. you stink of sweat."
"gosh, the things i do for you..." jeongguk mumbled under his breath, moving to his closet to grab some clothes.
"i heard that!" taehyung exclaimed, as he walked to the door to leave. he opened the door, glancing back at jeongguk, wiggling his eyebrows playfully. "have fun showering."
"go away," jeongguk said, throwing a pillow at him. he laughed and walked out of the room, the door closing with a thud behind him. taehyung was always the type to tease jeongguk and pick at every sentence he said. although jeongguk found it annoying at times, he had grown used to it. the two had been friends since forever.
after taehyung left, jeongguk glanced at the room he would be staying in for the rest of the year. it was a fairly large sized room, with two separate spaces for two people. jeongguk's side was decorated simply; mostly black and white and shades of blue filled his side of the room with very minimalistic decor, for example, photographs he had taken hung up on the wall near his bed and a desk with laptop and a small pencil case on it, his backpack sitting on his chair.
the other side of the room was empty still, a bare bedframe, mattress, and desk sat pushed against the other plain wall, waiting for an owner.
he had heard that his so-called roommate would be arriving sometime either today or tomorrow. was he nervous? of course. it isn't everyday a sophomore gets paired with a senior student for a roommate, and jeongguk was worried he might turn out to be one of those very loud frat boys, who think they're cooler than everyone. or maybe he might turn out to be a druggie, or an alcoholic or-
jeongguk shook his head.
he made up his mind to go down and talk to the dean about changing roommates if that were the case.
after taking almost 20 minutes to decide on an outfit for the evening party (granted, he did get distracted by his phone for a bit), jeongguk decided to finally jump in the shower. he had removed his clothing and was about to enter the shower when all of a sudden, he heard a frantic knock on the door.
"shit," he mumbled, half-heartedly pulling on a robe and rushing out of the bathroom to open the door.
taehyung stood in the doorway, seemingly out of breath.
"dude, you still haven't showered?!" he complained with disgust, eyeing jeongguk's robe loosely tied around his waist, falling off his shoulders. he pushed past jeongguk and entered the room.
"what are you doing here?"
"can't i just hang out in my friend's dorm?" glancing at the look jeongguk gave him, he continued. "fine, i just forgot my phone in here." he rushed and grabbed it off the bed. "okay bye!" he sang, skipping out of the room. jeongguk shut the door, rolling his eyes.
as he turned to walk back to the bathroom, there was another knock on the door. groaning, jungkook went to open it again.
"i forgot to say- have fun showering!" tae winked at him. "and hurry the fuck up, seriously."
"oh my god," jeongguk said, slamming the door in his face. "can't a guy go shower in peace?!"
as he turned to walk to the bathroom, he heard sounds of the door knob trying to be opened again.
that lil annoying piece of s-
jeongguk went up and opened the door again. "taehyung, leave me alo-!"
jeongguk froze.
it wasn't taehyung.
