The next day morning Charles woke up with the acute headache because of previous night's over drinking. He walked to the washroom holding his head and gulped two Asprin from the first-aid box. After having a shower and getting ready in his stiff and pricey three piece black suit, he knocked at Asher's bedroom where Aliza stayed the night. "Aliza do not act childish. I know you are awake. Open the door and let us solve this problem together." Charles insisted but as expected there was no response. Thinking that he did not have spare keys to open her door was like Aliza being rediculous. But Charles did not want to do that to his fiancee. He wasn't a man to impose his feelings on her and wanted to give her the space that she required.

Letting out a huge sigh, Charles went to the kitchen and quickly made a breakfast of becon, eggs and toast for his little family and placed it on the table. He walked to the key holder and picked keys of one of his favorite cars from the bunch and drove to Amara's home. He wanted to give her a surprise visit and check upon her if she was really telling him the truth about her pregnancy. "Hey! How are you? Just for a double confirmation I would get your pregnancy checked in one of my known clinics." Charles tells her acting excited but no sooner the words left out of his mouth Amara's face went pale. "Charles you know I got it checked with the best hospitals in the city. I do not see a reason for the report to go wrong." She told him anxious.

Charles did not reply her. He was a gentleman always with a woman and wouldn't speak in places where there is no requirement. Silence is better than speech is a principle he practices strongly. He doesn't use words but at the same time keeps Amara in check say it through his powerful demeanour or his intimidating mannerisms. Amara had no way but to stay silent with growing scare from his dominant self.

He got Amara examined by a doctor friend known to his father who is a gynaecologist. After all tests were done they were seated in the visitor's hall waiting for her reports and Amara became like a sack of floor with constant consternation. Charles watched Amara's face and deterred something fishy. Nevertheless he also knows that he should not arrive to conclusions without a proof. "Calm down everything will be alright, Amara." He assures her soft patting her shoulder. Amara was all the time playing with her fingers in anxiety and trepid in her eyes as if she had done something wrong.

Half an hour later the doctor called them with all the reports in her hand and just as Charles had guessed the pregnancy report came out negative for Amara. Charles understood,  everything was faked by her but at the moment he simply doesn't choose to go expressive because they were still in hospital. He thanked the doctor for the report and walked out of the clinic.

Seeing the sharp tick of his jaw on their ride back home, Amara knew she was in huge trouble. She was constantly twiddling her thumbs in pensiveness. "You shouldn't have done this." Charles spoke immediately as they stepped into Amara's condo. Amara had a rise in her pressure with the unwelcome softness but a violent sternness in Charles's voice. She knew it was a silence before a storm. "I got the result from the best hospital in California and you know about it Charles." Amara tried to act innocent blinking her eyes like a naive kid but Charles understands very well about her games.

He ignored her words and spoke. "You have no idea how much of chaos you would have created in my life with your false report, Amara." There was a pop out of the nerve on his neck as he spoke restricting himself from the anger.  "I was all the time cautious and thus I had a doubt since the beginning and I got it checked." He spoke harsh. "I'm a business man and deal with thousands of people like you everyday.  You thought you could fool me so easy?  It wasn't a mistake. What you did was a blunder." He remarked malicious.

"You shouldn't have done this." The last sentence of Charles was just a whisper but enough menacing for Amara to invite a shiver inside her nerves.

"I am in love with you, Charles and this was the only way I could win you back from that witch." Amara screeched falling to her knees with tears dropping her eyes. "First, you have no right to call her witch when you by yourself were not truthful through your deeds. Second, how could you think you were going to manage with a fake pregnancy? Doesn't it sound silly that you thought you could fool me, a business man who makes millions with a flip of his fingers?" Charles ordered with ferocity in his eyes. "Children are God's gift Amara. You cannot invite them whenever you please. Otherwise there wouldn't have been so many infertility centers around the world." Charles's nose was flaring in wrath but his speech was controlled because he was dealing with a woman.

"I thought I would fake an abortion after 3-4 weeks when we are happily married and settled." She mumbled directing her eyes to the floor and wiping her tears away. But the next thing Amara witnessed wasn't according to her expectation. She heard a huge sound to her ears followed by a sting on her cheek. Amara looked astonished meeting the eyes of Charles. "I never expected this from you, Charles." She murmured weak but in fury.

"That went unexpected even to me but what you spoke was nothing less than a poison and I'm sorry I couldn't control my senses." Charles still spoke courteous. "You were about to destroy the life of an innocent child. Either Asher had to live with his step mother." Charles pointed his finger accusing to Amara. "Or he would have been brought up in a split family." He spoke with bane and disgust towards her. "You are wicked and selfish. I was wrong in understanding you and shouldn't have involved myself. You call Aliza a witch. What are you to have thought of directing harm towards an infant?"

"Charles please do not do this to me. I have no intention in harming Asher. I just wanted to establish myself in your life." Amara cried but Charles watched her in revulsion. "Going the right way I should hand you over to police for your manipulation in the pregnancy report. But...." Charles massages his forehead going tired. "There is fault on my side too in this situation. I trusted you and was about to start a family with you. That is why I am allowing you free without imposing any charges. But, if you start intruding in my happy family again...." Charles waits for Amara to digest the challenge behind his threatening words. "I will be the most dangerous person you would face in your life." Saying the words Charles walks away without sparing a second glance to Amara.

Amara fell to the ground regretting her doing. She shouldn't have done the terrible mistake. To say the truth there was no love from Charles ever towards her he only respected her being a woman but it was her fault she always built castles in air dreaming about their union one day. At the end it was the conclusion of destiny she wasn't destined to marry a seraph like Charles. Humans cannot marry Angels. Amara thought with vitriol.

Marriages without love or one sided love do not survive. If only Amara could understand the truth a little earlier. At least she would have claimed the respect from Charles and his family but now she lost everything. She was a loner, shattered and deprived with every happiness and love lost from her life.

Two months had passed since the incident. Aliza hardly talked and the little unavoidable conversations they had with each other were only in sign language or in monosyllables. Asher was slowly recovering to a healthy baby.  Charles was happy finally his prayers to God had been fruitful about his son but what about his relationship with Aliza?

It was in the wee hours of Saturday morning Charles heard a hustle outside his bedroom. It has been a couple of months. Aliza refused to share the same bedroom with Charles. She continued to sleep in guest bedroom which was adjacent to Charles and the baby's on either side.

Noting a disturbance he rushed to Aliza's bedroom who was sprinting towards the washroom with her hand clamped to her mouth. Charles hurried after her but she did not favor his intrudence. Rushing to the loo she locked the door not allowing Charles inside.

There were fumes coming out of his ears but Charles waited outside and spoke even with Aliza when she came out. "Aliza both of us had done mistakes in our past. The only difference is I prepared myself to overlook at them and accept you in spite of your errors but you seem not agreeing to me though you are equally at fault. Because I do not say anything to you doesn't mean you make an ideal woman. It is the result of my patience that you still rule being a queen in my house despite your violent behavior. Do not pull me to the limit else you know how damaging I can be that could go even to ending lives." There was a warning in his tone and displeasure in his features that made Aliza's face go pale with fright.

"Today we are seeing a doctor at nine." He tells in command and walks away without sparing a chance for argument with Aliza. The hour long ride to the hospital was in silence except the stereo playing behind. Charles and Aliza maintained their distance like a boss and an employee rather than partners in life waiting for the reports at the waiting room.

Fifteen minutes later the doctor called and confirmed with the result that Aliza was definitely not ready to welcome but Charles's face glew like a star in happiness.

"Congratulations Mr and Mrs Rodriguez. You are soon expected to be the parents of a little baby."
