"Life is just like a boomerang. Doing bad things to others and karma is turning back double to you."- Anonymous

*********

It was half past six. Nothing could be heard in the office, except for the sound of people typing and paper rustling, until someone broke the silence:

"How many more times do I have to tell you that she is having an affair to make you believe me?"-questioned Dylan.

"Never will I believe you!"- Jack retorted.

Dylan's jaw dropped as he stared back at Jack, his best friend for more than 7 years, in disbelief. He opened his mouth but then stopped in mid air as he found himself at a loss for words.

"Look,"-said Jack attempting to pull himself together-" I do believe you, as my best friend. But it's way beyond my wildest dreams to even think that Grace would cheat on me. We have been married for over 5 years and things are going to be smooth sailing like this for the rest of our lives, so don't waste your time worrying about our marriage. Besides, what concrete evidence there is to prove that she is having an affair?"

"Don't you see it?"- then, suddenly, Dylan lowered his voice, as if to ensure that their conversation was out of earshot-"ever since the day you brought Grace to the company's end-of-the-year party last year, the director had been eying on her and asking us questions about her, let alone the fact that you are receiving promotion at breakneck speed. What is the reason for this? How can you explain it?"

"I don't really know. It can be my lucky star or something, but to believe that Grace is cheating on me is completely out of the question!"- Jack bellowed.

"She is dashingly attractive, Jack. Moreover, she's a woman and women at times, like men, lose there minds and get tempted by wealth and..."

"What are you guys discussing?"- came a rather irritated voice of a woman-" You all know that we, as professionals, are not be distracted at work."

Dylan's heart skipped a beat at the sound of these words, and, as he turned around, he saw a middle-aged woman dressed in a azure blue dress with blond hair and golden earrings. She was none other than the wife of their director .

"Nothing, Rebecca."- replied Jack in a gentle tone.

"Oh, no, really? I did hear you shouting at each other less than 5 minutes ago. Just tell me what it is."

In addition to being the boss' wife, Rebecca Hobbs was head of their department. Thus, it wouldn't do them any good to tell her the truth about what they were discussing. Having worked that out, Jack exchanged some looks with Dylan and, after having been on the receiving end of his wink, told her:

"No, we are good. Just been arguing about whether Samsung is better than Apple or not."

"Personally, I think Apple is still the leading company, with all their latest technologies and stylish designs."- Dylan said.

"I'm with Dylan in this matter."- said Rebecca, much to Jack and Max's relief. "but they really have to do better in terms of marketing, though. Anyway, the next time you have some chit chat about such things, make sure it's not office hour, ok?"

"Ok"- they both replied.

Then, she strode off.

"Close shave, wasn't it?"- Dylan said as he let out a sigh of relief.

"We wouldn't have got ourselves into such a potentially troublesome situation if you had just stopped suspecting my wife on such unfairly ground."

"Can't you see that I'm trying my best to help you?"

"What? Helping? For the last few days what you have done is repeatedly trying to sabotage my marriage!"

"If you would just listen to me..."

"End of discussion!"- Jack roared. After casting Dylan a look that would have leveled that of an army, he cleared his deck and stormed out of the office.
