Severus lived with his non-magical father, who was a muggle named Tobias Snape and his mother Eileen Snape (born: Prince), who was a pureblood. As her mother, he went to Hogwarts. Before he turned eleven, he had a friend named Lily Evans, who had a Muggle Sister named Petunia and also her parents were muggles. Severus was a normal friend for her, but he loved her strongly. In Hogwarts, they get split, because Lily was a Gryffindor and Severus was a Slytherin.
Lily was a good friend of James Potter, who had a group of friends with Peter Pettigrew, Remus Lupin and Sirius Black. They are called the marauders. For a long time they were best friends and James always protected Lily, because Severus did not leave her alone.
That time, while James and the others bullied him, broke Severus and he felt alone. They did it very hard, the throw his books or tried the spells, they learned on him. Sirius and James were the two worst bully because they did it everytime and everyday. Additional Lily refused him and came together with his bully, James Potter.
Lily could understand how Severus felt, because her sister Petunia always tried to victimnize her, because she was different as the other family members of the Evans. Maybe she was a bit jealous of Lily, because Petunia was a muggle. Nevertheless she did not help Severus and watched while the group of James annoyed Severus. Severus did not understand Lily, because he was always there for her as Petunia insulted Lily.
It was the point in time, Severus Snape's heart and soul broke in two pieces.
