A moment of realization drowned Samael. His human would finally know what he truly was and his heart shattered. Brett would know that Samael wasn't like all the other men he's been with. Instead he'd see a monster, a villain.

Samael's thoughts spun out of control. He savoured instilling fear in others, like an apex predator. A crocodile of the Mara River in the Serengeti. He thought about the strange woman from the night before, how he'd gotten so annoyed that he nearly burned her alive. Sure, it was fun for Samael, it made him feel invincible. But, what if it had been Brett who annoyed him? Could he hurt Brett? Never, he answered himself, at least not on purpose. He then wondered if maybe he was putting the human in danger instead of protecting him.

Mixed emotions twirled around him; unsure if he should feel relieved at the fact that he was now free to be himself, or angry at the fact that Brett was about to see his wicked nature. He didn't want Brett to be afraid of him. He wasn't ready to let him go, and he didn't think he ever would. Samael needed Brett like oxygen to a flame, without it he would seize to exist.

Look what you've done now! Samael blared at Marzanna with an angry wave that was out of Brett's perception.

"About the booking Samael had me make for you two tonight," Marzanna answered Brett, "I'm Marzanna by the way." She offered her hand, "it's nice to finally meet you."

        "Likewise, I'm Brett."

"I know, Samael's told me so much about you," she said with a playful smile.

You're lucky, Samael mentioned to Marzanna, thankful he didn't have to face losing Brett so quickly. Except, now he had to come up with a plan of where they were going. He remembered seeing a bulletin board that advertised a live performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night happening that night and decided it would be the perfect place.

"Great, well now that I have the tickets, you can go," Samael said aloud to Marzanna as he ushered her out.

"That's the thanks I get for doing you a favour?" she teased.

Yes, thanks by the way for almost ruining things. Samael added before he spoke out loud, "thank you, Marzanna, but I would like some alone time with this man, alright?"

"Have fun," Marzanna winked at Samael and Brett as she opened the door, "lots and lots of fun."

When the door closed behind Marzanna, Samael felt himself relax. Crisis averted, he thought. He even ended up with the perfect idea for a date, but he wasn't going to tell Marzanna that. She almost ruined everything.

"I didn't know your name was Samael," Brett said, "I like it."

        "Thank you. Coffee?" Samael offered.

Brett nodded his head yes. "Is Marzanna your sister?"

"Yeah, I guess you could say that," Samael answered nervously.

        "You guess?"

"Well," Samael dug for an answer that wasn't any bit true, "we grew up in a foster home together." He lied to Brett, but at least it was believable. There were a lot of humans who grew up without parents.

"Oh," Brett said as he received the warm mug of stolen instant coffee. "What happened to your parents?"

Samael hadn't planned to answer a question like that, so he accidently, on purpose, tipped his mug over and spilled his coffee all over the floor. "Ah, sorry, I'm clumsy this morning."
