Summer's P.O.V
My mom and I sat outside the room patiently as the nurse talked to Haliey. Well I couldn't stop tapping my foot so I guess I wasn't very patient. I've never seen Haliey like that ever since dad stopped calling. I really wanted to know what's was going on in her head. The hallways were quiet with nurses walking from room to room. It was about 7pm, many patients were asleep and visitors had to go home.

The nurse walked out the door, with a confused look on her face.

"I'll be right back" she says and walks the other way.

Where would she be going?

What happen in there?

Is Haliey okay?

All these questions running through my head made me so nervous. What could have been wrong? The nurse walks back but with this other man. He looked professional, but maybe not a doctor.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Malcaster, nice to meet you" he says taking out his hand. So he was a doctor.

"Renee, nice meeting you too" says my mom shaking his hand.

"You must be? " he says as he looks at me.

"I'm Summer" I say not showing any eye contact since all I wanted to see was Haliey okay.

"Why that's a beautiful name. May I talk the two of you in my office? He asks politely.

" Sure but what about Haliey? " my mom asked with a worried, and panic look.

" Don't worry about her, Sabrina could you stay with Haliey just in case she needs something?" He says to the British nurse.

"Will do Dr. Malcaster." She walks away into Hailey's room.

We enter his office to see light blue wallpaper and certificates hung up on the wall in fancy frames. He sits at his desk and gestures us towards the two chairs in front of him.

"Please sit" says Mr. Macalester politely.

"Thank you" replies my mom.

I look on his desk and see a picture of him and two kid each holding his hands smiling.

" That's Ava and Joshua, my two goof balls. They're turning 7 this Friday."

"They're so cute" I say smiling.

"Sure are" he replies with a grin.

"Now to what I had to talk to the two of you about. I've got a few questions to ask you two...separately. Please answer them as honestly as possible" he says as he takes out a sheet of paper and a pen from his shirt pocket.

"Summer, would you please just wait in the hall while I talk to your mom?"

"Sure" I answer walking out.

I sit outside his office on a bench patiently. I don't know what he's asking her..or what he's going to ask me.

Does he think we did something wrong?

Is he assuming my mom is abusive?

Stop thinking Summer, I tell myself as I start jumping to negative conclusions.

I stare at my watch noticing 5 minutes have past by. I decide to go get a snack from the vending machine.

I walked through the halls, it was past 8pm allowing the halls to be really quiet. Many patients were asleep or having dinner. Not many visitors were seen at this time. I arrive at the vending machine and buy a drink. Orange juice, it was my favorite.
