Upon walking back into their family's home, Kara was greeted with the scent of the whatever food her mom had been cooking, along with the muffled sounds of her brother and sister walking around on the second floor. Their father was seated in the living room, staring intently at something on his phone, and their mother was presumably in the kitchen.

They made their way back to the kitchen to drop off the butter, silently debating whether or not they should tell their mother about her conversation with George. They decide against it and instead opt that they would talk with Kat about it. She can no longer hear her walking around so they assume that she's sat down in her room.

When they get to Kat's room and knock on the door, a faint "come in" from the other side of the door.

The room is dim, with Kat's LED lights set to purple. When her eyes adjusted, Kara sees her sister sitting in her desk chair, a laptop sitting in her lap and her headphones plugged in.

"Is that my laptop?" The stickers decorating it are all too familiar to Kara, she remembered the day that she and George had put them on the laptop instead of paying attention in a lecture.

"Oh yeah, I needed it for school. Mom said she would talk to you about it."

Kara peeked around the screen, seeing the Netflix homepage for a split second before their sister closed the tab. She gave Kat a pointed before gently grabbing the laptop from her, pulling a bit harder when Kat didn't let go.

"Okay, moving on. George wants to meet up and talk to me. He said something about apologizing for how he acted or something." Kat's eyes lit up and she jumped out of her chair.

"Are you going?!" Her voice got higher as she spoke, clearly excited. The entirety of the Pierce family had been a big fan of George up until their breakup, and it was clear that a few of them, (Kat and Kole), still held out hope that the couple would get back together eventually.

"For lunch. It's tomorrow and then I have to go back to Manchester the day after."

"Cool! I hope it goes well!" Kat smiles at Kara as she sits back down at her desk. "Now, please get out of my room."

Kara got from where they had seated themselves on the edge of their sisters bed and made their way out of the room, slightly surprised about how long it took Kat to tell her to get out.

The next morning, Kara woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Her old room was now the best room and because she had taken all of her furniture when she moved, the room now consisted of an old, lumpy mattress, some curtains, and a dresser that she hasn't seen before. The curtains did a terrible job at blocking the sun as the rays poked through and burned Kara's eyes when she opened them.

They could hear the noise coming from the TV downstairs and soft chatter, most likely between her parents, drifted upstairs. Kat and Kole were probably still asleep, yet again Kara wouldn't normally wake up this early either.

With a strange burst of productivity, they got out of bed and made their way downstairs. As suspected, their parents sat in the living room together, talking softly.

"Good morning, dear." Their mother spoke softer in the mornings, trying her best to not wake up the kids, all three of which had terrible sleep schedules. "How did you sleep?"

Kara thought about answering truthfully and telling her mother about the pain in her neck and lower back after sleeping on the mattress. "Good, thank you. How about you?" They decided against it as to not make her mother feel bad about the arrangement.

The three continued to speak quietly, Kara telling their parents about her job waitressing while she looked for a job where she could properly use the degree she had earned.

Every time the conversation moved to their career, their parents wasted no time to mention the office down the street where they could apply for a job. While the offer was appealing, they wanted to stay out of London and continue their life that they had been building in Manchester.

When 10:30 rolled around, some time later, she excused herself to go and get dressed for the day as they were meeting George for lunch at 11:30.

They stood in the mirror, meticulously looking over their outfit and hair to make sure that nothing was out of place when a knock sounded from the door and Kat poked her head in.

"Hey good luck today, you look nice." She stepped out of the room, before coming back for a quick second. "If he charms you again just don't get pregnant." Kara sighed at the comment, not wanting to think about even hugging him.

Maybe he's really changed?

She tried to reason with herself that they had been broken up for a year and a half and they hadn't had a proper conversation with him since then, so who's to say that he hasn't changed.

Change now doesn't change the past.

Even with everything thing he had done, or hadn't done, Kara still held a soft spot for the man. But that doesn't make up for it.

Ten minutes later she sat in the cafe like she had so long ago, although this time she found herself praying that he wouldn't show, unlike before when they would stay later than normal just in case he did.

The bell on the door rung. She glanced up nervously, sighing a breath of relief when they saw that it was a woman and her child and not George. They tried to think of anything else to get their mind off the thought of sitting in the cafe with him again; They hadn't talked, let alone sat down for food together in a long time.

Trying to distract herself, Kara sipped on her water and took small bites of the salad that she had ordered, not wanting to eat it all before George was able to order some food and sit down but needing something to get their mind off of the current situation.

Not long after the bell ring yet again, this time Kara was not as lucky. He ordered some food at the counter quickly and then sat down across from them, putting his hand out for a handshake that she reluctantly followed through on.

"Hey, thanks for coming." He said, the look on his face showed that of relief as she realized that he thought she might have stood him up as he had done to her.

"No problem." They wanted to keep the conversation short and concise, straight to the point and she was leaving. "You wanted to talk about some... stuff?"

"Yeah, I did," he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Um, I'm really sorry about everything. I know I was a shitty boyfriend and I know that I didn't give as much to the relationship as you did. You didn't deserve that, you deserve so much better. You deserve someone who can at least send a text when something comes up and you deserve someone who can answer a phone call after being the one to propose it."

Kara nodded, most of the stuff he was saying was stuff that she had realized and come to terms with even before she broke up with him, but the fact that he was trying to make amends was sweet of him.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm sorry that I didn't treat you well and that it took me so long to realize it. You're really important to me and I've always regretted what happened to us because of me."

"I forgive you, George."
