Sarah's pov

I opened my eyes, to find myself lying down in the school infirmary with Layla sound asleep beside me.

It took a second before the realization of what had happened hit me. How could it be possible, I never did any such thing, this is all just a dream and I will wake up soon, I told myself.

Before I could further console myself a woman whom I recognized as the school nurse entered the room.

"Miss Sarah?" She asked with a slight distaste in her expressions.

"Yes" I replied shortly.

"You have someone calling you on the principal office number."  and without waiting for a reply she turned around and left.

I knew who this would be; I felt myself start shaking, she must have heard the news and now she would behead me. There is no way she would believe me, believe that someone framed me.

With my trembling legs, I stood up and left Layla sleeping to go to the principal office.

As I walked through the hallway I felt everyone looking at me as if I had done something reprehensible and their glares would be enough to send me to hell.

I knocked on the door of the principal office before I was allowed to enter, I silently picked up the receiver dreading what was to come next.

"Hello" I said into the receiver

"Saraha," My mom said but something felt odd, it sounded like she had been crying.

"Yes, mom." Guilt surrounded me, she was crying because of me.

"Why would you do this Sarah? What was there you could not get from this life?" Her voice was breaking as if she was holding back her tears.

Not able to hold my emotions tears started rolling down my cheeks, I hurt my mother, I thought she would be angry but-

"I am sorry mom but I am being framed and I think I know by whom."

"Sarah, there is still time you need to get back your old image, you were the most reliable young lady of our town, if you would try people might believe you."

For a moment I couldn't get what was happening, my mother sounded supportive. For the first time in my life, I heard her talk like a mother to me.

"I- I will try my best mom." Amidst the sadness, I could feel the happiness building inside me. I had a sudden urge to go and hug my mom wherever she was.

"Sarah we are back on our way home, we will fight this together and I trust you."

"Thank you so much mom, I will never break your tru-" before I could finish my sentence I heard my mother scream which was soon masked by the loud sound of tires screeching accompanied by a crashing sound.

My happiness turned into panic.

"MOM"

"MOM"

I screamed into the receiver but didn't get a reply but could hear men shouting in distance and the line went off.

All the bad things that could have happened started running in my mind.

I hope they are fine.

My mind kept repeating what I had heard through the receiver. Deep in my thoughts, I didn't realise I was already standing next to the bed I had been on a few minutes ago and now where Layla was sound asleep.

I picked my bag from the side table and rushed out towards my car. The school was empty as classes were going on so luckily I didn't bump into any unwanted presence.

I threw my bag to the other side and took out my phone and called my mother but no one picked up the call. After a few failed attempts I tried my father's number but still got no response.

I started my car and turned it around not quite knowing where I had to go. As I left the school grounds, a familiar ringtone made its way into my ears.

I grabbed my phone and felt a wave of relief on seeing my father number flash across the screen.

"Hello" I breathed into the receiver.

"Is this Sarrah Williams?" Came a man's voice.

I felt my heart stop.

This is not my father, this can not be happening.

"Hello" the same voice said

"Yes, I am Sarah Williams" I replied

"Ma'am your parents had an accident on the Etheric highway, they are currently hospitalised and they want you here." He said in a professional tone.

"Which hospital" I said hastily

"Healthcare Hospital" came the reply

"Thank you, I will be there shortly."

I threw my phone on the other seat and dashed through the roads of the small town I had called home all my life.

Within 10 minutes I was running in the hospital corridor looking for my parents.

"Ahh" I bumped into someone and from the corner of my eye I saw a white coat and there were visible tattoos on the neck.

Without a sorry, I picked myself and continued my search. After two minutes, I was being led into a room by a nurse where I saw my parents lying in beds next to each other. They both had bruises on their bodies, and a thick bandage was tied on my father's head.

I went in between them, tear rolled down my face when I saw them in the condition they were in.

"Sarah, I am sorry........I never could be a good mother to you." My mother spoke huffing.

"No mo- you wer- the best mother I- I coul-" I chocked on my tears.

My father put his hand on mine.
"You know I don't like it when you cry. You are my brave little girl." He had a soothing smile on his face.

I nodded my head and wiped away my tears.  My mother glanced towards my father and they shared some secret through their eyes, the language of love, they didn't need words to know what the other had to say.

Both turned to look at me.

"Sarah, we are sorry - but we will not be able to accompany you any further on the path of life......... You will be left alone but remember, we will- we will always be there in your heart and in our house, as memories." My father said slowly

It took me a second to realise but as it hit me, the tears I was trying to control came out with all my emotions.

"Dad, please this is not something to joke about, you are not serious, are you? Don't tell me-"

My vision became blurry because of the tears as I held on to my parents.
