Brown and Blue Eyes

Again thanks for choosing this book to read and I hope you'll enjoy it! :)

Above for those who don't know is a photo of what central heterochromia looks like. Basically, full heterochromia is when both of your eyes are different colours (like a cat) and the central kind is different colors in each eye. It doesn't always look as obvious as in that photo but that's what Caroline's eyes look like, so yeah ;)

Enjoy!!

I look at Mr Stark endearingly, trying to communicate the importance of what I want to tell him. To be honest, I'm not sure he's really getting it. The look on his face tells me he doesn't really believe me.

"Yeah." I confirm, "And I guess I'm happy she's back... but why? Doesn't it seem a little odd to you?"

"Why would it be odd?" He asks. He's definitely not getting it.

"Her Mom and her were supposed to be moving on, you know? A new town, a new school, a new life. A life without her Dad."

I try and explain to Tony. He still looks confused. Isn't it obvious what I'm getting at?

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying maybe they haven't moved on." I explain, trying to hide my frustration, "Maybe..."

My voice trails off as I catch sight of girl watching me through a crack in the door. Her eyes are a mixture of brown and blue and they widen as she realises I've seen her.

She gasps as our eyes meet and turns around, slamming the door and disappearing with a flick of her chin-length dark brown hair.

"Who was that?" I ask Mr Stark. I walk over to the door and try and open it to see where she went but Mr Stark blocks my path, covering the door with his torso and arms.

"Why are you blocking the door?" I ask him.

"Look kid," he says sternly, "You don't need to know who she is."

"Why?" I ask him, "What is she doing here? Is she a new recruit or something? Do the other avengers know about her?"

"Be quiet, ok? It's none of your business. You don't need to know who she is."

And then it hits me. It hits me like a train; hard and strong. I've seen the girl before, in a picture taken late at night of her and Tony Stark by paparazzi. It brought up all sorts of rumours that Tony was cheating on Pepper and a rapist. I never believed any of the rumours but...

"She's that girl from the picture isn't she?" I demand.

Tony looks confused.

"What picture?"

"The picture of you and a young girl that blew up."

"What? No!" He says.

He's lying.

"Did you rape her?" I demand.

"Excuse me?" Replies Mr Stark, affronted, "how could you even think that if me kid?"

He's not lying.

"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, it's just that she looks exactly like that girl... And then I saw her here... I just..."

Mr Stark looks briefly like he has an idea, then his face settles into anger.

"Get out." He hisses, "Get out."

Get out? I've really offended him... I guess it was a pretty rude and stupid to call him an outright rapist.

I'm so fucking stupid.

"I'm sorry Mr Stark." I tell him quietly, and then I walk out of the building, where Happy is waiting for me in his car.

I sit down in the front seat and try to smile easily, like everything is ok.

"All good?" Asks Happy.

"Yup!" I tell him, hoping my enthusiasm doesn't sound too forced.

"Good." He says excitedly, "You ready for tonight?"

My mind blanks as I try to remember what's happening tonight.

"You bet I am!" I tell him, still not sure what he's so excited for.

Happy continues to chatter away as we drive. I look out the window as he talks, thinking about the girl with brown and blue eyes...

Who is she?
