Kyoka's POV

Eight years, thats how long it's been since Momo's death. I've spent every moment of those years training, as hard as I can to become a royal guard for the High Kingdom... Her Kingdom. The world that was meant to become hers but instead she abandoned it to be with me. The decision that ended up killing her...

I held my breath as I stood, my back hurting from being up right for so long as Kai took his time making some dumb speech I had heard thousand times about how we, the guards are to represent the kingdom. I smiled as I tried to hide my soft chuckle, not wanting Kai to be anymore pissed at me. I looked around the room at the newbies and I couldn't help but feel bad for them, I still remember how much everything hurt after my first week of training and how much of an ass Kai was, poking me all over, knowing it hurt. "~Sir, yes sir!~" Kai smiled at me, face close to mine "(I didn't hear you Kyoka, You'll have to say that louder)". He grinned and I poked my tongue out at him, mocking him "{Sir, Yes Sir}". I watched as the newbies faces turned with a look of horror, "(Tsk Tsk, I'll have to teach you some manners Kyoka)" Kai chuckled before walked away, turning his attention back to the new comers. "(Now everyone, Kyoka here is a terrible example of a guard. So I have no idea why we keep her, but she has been here the longest so if you have any questions feel free to ask her)" Kai smiled at me, knowing how much all their questions would bother me as he walked away.

Hours later as we sat eating dinner, Kai made his way over towards my table and sat beside me, making sure to bump into my arm as he always did to get my attention "(Afternoon)". I smiled and continued to eat, "(I just wanted to let you know that the king and queen should be coming sometime tomorrow)". I almost choked on my food as I looked up at him, a look of horror on my face "{Tomorrow!? Why didn't you tell me sooner!}". He gave me an awkward smile and I saw his face flush "(I didn't want you to stress, But I guess that plan failed)". I nodded as my head fell into my hands, I felt Kai put his hand on my shoulder, the warmth making me feel calmer "(Don't worry, I'm sure they'll love you and if not at least their daughter will!)". I gave him a smile that mixed with a look of confusion "(You are the great Earphone Jack after all)", Kai grinned and I couldn't help but smile back. That was the first time in a while someone had called me that, the last person I remember calling me that was... Momo. I felt tears start to prick at my eyes and I tried my best to rub them away "(Wait don't cry, Did I say something? I didn't mean to upset you!)". I started to chuckled at Kai's words as he bashed himself for what he said, He turned back to face me, being treated with a teary smile "{No, It wasn't you. It's just been a long time since someone called me that name}". His look of anger turned to a smile as I talked and he reached towards my face, rubbing a tear that had started to fall down my cheek "(I'll make sure to call you that more often then)".
