It was Saturday, and Darren and I are in my room. He is trying his best to teach me how to solve derivatives, which turned out to be such a struggle. Literally nothing is getting inside my head because I'm busy thinking about something else. It was just the two of us in my room, and that recent steamy dream about him keeps flashing in my mind as Darren went on and on about calculus. I can't help but feel bad for his efforts getting wasted by me.
"-And so the answer will be 4(12x+7) (6x²+7x)³." He then noticed I was lost in thought. "Did you get that, Fred?"
"Sorry," I groaned and stretched my arms towards the ceiling. "Can we take a short break?"
"Okay." He answered as he leaned back from his chair.
We just sat there in silence. I could hear his breathing, and I couldn't help but sneak a few glances at him.
How can someone be so charming without doing anything?
He then noticed me staring, so I quickly averted my eyes and pretended I was on the phone. I opened our group chat, and my friends were active at the time. They were talking about Elaine's party.
"hey." I joined in their conversation.
"FRED!!!!!" Cody typed. "hows your 'tutoring session' with the d? firsts are special btw"
"SHUT UP CODY!" I typed furiously. "we're taking a break calculus is so damn hard."
"is calculus his dongs name?" He replied.
"my god Cody." Devin chatted. "could you stop talking about sex for a second and actually tell us more about the party."
"6 pm @Elaine's house." Cody replied. "not much to tell unless u guys r coming."
"i have church tomorrow." Jim replied. "sorry guys."
"im gonna ask Yvonne." Devin chatted.
"count me in!" Don typed. "how bout u Fred?"
I looked at Darren, who was writing something in the notebook that we were using for solutions. I caught his attention by nudging his leg and he quickly covered whatever he was writing before giving me his full attention.
"What's up?" He looked as if he was caught doing something wrong.
"I was just going to ask if you want to go to Elaine's tonight?" I played with my fingers out of nervousness. "Well, only if it's okay with you."
"Do you want to?" Darren asked me, as he ripped the page from the notebook he was writing on.
"Yeah," I nodded. "But if you don't want to, then I won't go."
"Sounds like a plan." Darren folded the piece of paper and slid it inside his pocket. "Tell me the details after our session today."
"Sure." I smiled at him, he smiled at me back.
I returned to the conversation in our group chat. Cody was spamming his chats and was asking inappropriate questions about my tutoring session with Darren.
"hey." I chatted. "im going."
Darren went home after I finally understood how to solve derivatives using the chain method. I got ready as soon as he left. I contemplated a lot on what to wear, and ended up wearing a black jacket that screams 'antisocial' all over it, and a pair of jeans. I went downstairs to tell my mom I was about to go to a party.
"Hey sweetie." She was watching a Filipino sitcom on television. "You going somewhere?"
"Cody invited me to a party." I said as I tie my shoes. "I'm going with Darren."
