Mateo was fiddling with Cooper’s phone, looking for something he’d like in the mess of playlists he had. The girls were in the back, cuddling and Kasey had her girlfriend laughing at something.
They had learned that her name was Alexis. She had a completely different personality than Kasey, which was odd, but not unexpected. Kasey had always been attracted to cute things despite looking like hot topic and spencer’s had a human love child.
Mateo put on some music and put Cooper’s phone out of his reach. Alexis lit up at the song put on while Cooper and Kasey groaned in unison.
It was fifteen minutes of torcher for the two as Alexis and Mateo sang along to every song that played, though neither of them truly hated it.
Cooper turned down a dirt road that was overgrown with brush. The drive was rough even as the car slowed down. He stopped the car and looked back at his passengers.
“Y’all ready for a hike?”
“I thought we were going swimming?” Alexis was visible confused.
Kasey kissed her girlfriend lightly and got out of the car, holding the door for her. “We are, but this idiot didn’t remember that we would need four-wheel drive to get over there.” She was referring to Cooper.
“Hey! You didn’t either!”
“Nope.” She stuck out her tongue at him and helped Alexis out, shutting the door behind her.
While this was all happening, Mateo had already gotten out of the car and had started his way up the road. When the others noticed, they all hurried to catch up to him and then they all walked to the swimming hole together.
The area consisted of a pool of water that had a small stream going through it. It had a makeshift dam put together with large rocks to make the pool bigger and to slow down the current. There was a rope swing on a ledge overlooking the water while beside it there was a fire pit and logs to sit on.
This is where the group had spent most of their days, whether it be sunny or snowy. It was a place for them to get away from people because as far as they knew, no one else was aware it existed.
Cooper took off his shirt and pants, leaving him in his boxers. He took a running start onto the rope swing and propelled himself into the water, making a huge splash.
Kasey took off after him, jumping in with just her shorts and bra; leaving Mateo and Alexis waiting for them to resurface at the edge of the water.
When they did, Cooper climbed back out and went up to Mateo, acting like he was heading for his bag. He quickly turned and picked Mateo up, trying to throw him into the water, which was met with some resistance.
Mateo clung onto Cooper with his life, screaming and clawing at him. After struggling for a little bit, they both fell, Cooper landing on top of Mateo. They stayed in that position for a few seconds though time seemed to have stopped for both as they stared in each other’s eyes.
The trance was broken though when someone dumped water on them.
“Kasey!!”
Cooper pushed himself from Mateo and gave chase to the running Kasey, leaving the other two to watch. Alexis was giggling, clearly have found Kasey’s actions funny; and Mateo was still sitting on the ground trying to process what had just happened as his face turned red.
