"Bottoms up" he said cheerfully, as if he didn't just ruin my night.
"Thanks," I replied, not really meaning it though. I took the drink in my hand and took a long sip. The liquid burned at the back of my throat, numbing the pain slightly.
...
It was around 11 o'clock, I had had a few drinks and was slightly buzzed. Most of the pain had left my body and I was feeling slightly better.
"Hey," said a soft voice "is that seat taken?" I looked up and saw a face, a pretty face, a surprisingly familiar face.
"No," I said gruffly. She looked like her, but not quite. Her hair was more blonde than brown. Her eyes were a warm hazel compared to her vibrant jade. The girl's skin was also paler, however all in all, they looked startlingly similar. She was wearing ripped jeans and a mustard yellow sweater. Her hair was in a messy ponytail, pulling off the casual look perfectly. She took the seat opposite me and extended an arm,
"I'm Jade, what's your name?" she asked, her voice smooth and gentle.
"Cole" I responded, quietly, shaking her hand. Her middle name was Jade, this couldn't be a coincidence, anger seared through me.
"Are you here to mess with me, because if you are then I strongly suggest you leave" I barked out. A look of shock masked her face.
"What are you talking about? Why would I be messing with you? I don't even know you!" she yelled. I stared at her for a second, before deciding that she's telling the truth
"Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude " I croaked out. "What I wanted to know is why you're sitting here?"
"It must be because you're so approachable" she dead-panned "you know like a bed of nails." I laugh at that, the noise sounds so unfamiliar coming out of my mouth, yet it felt great, like a small amount of weight that was crushing my back had been lifted. Jade joined in. I can't remember the last time I laughed like this...
"You have chocolate on your face," I said, smiling at my gorgeous girlfriend. She dipped a finger in the chocolate and wiped it on her cheek.
"Is it gone now?" she asked, her eyes wide with humour. I laughed, dizzy and drunk on love. I leaned over and gave her a quick kiss, before licking the chocolate off. She squealed in surprise and started giggling. I needed to tell her something; something I was scared to tell her,
'How would she react?' I pondered. I pushed my thoughts away and took a deep breath in.
"A-Adriana?" I stuttered
"Yeah?" she replied, looking at me quizzically, I plucked up every inch of courage in my body.
"I-I love you" I whispered. I closed my eyes waiting for a response, but I didn't get one. I opened my eyes and saw Adriana staring back at me in disbelief.
"Say it again" she asked softly. I took another deep breath.
"Adriana Jade Harlow, I love you" I blurted out. Her mouth turned upwards in a breathtaking smile.
"Cole James Read, I love you too" she said, almost shyly. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding. A goofy, uncontrollable smile took over my face and Adriana beamed right back. I leaned over for another kiss...
