CHAPTER 11: FAKE DATE PART 2

Wangji needed to call his brother as soon as he could but due to the time difference between the two of them, he had to wait, every second was making him more anxious, if he was like that today he couldn't even think how he would feel on Saturday morning. This was his opportunity to show Wei Ying his real intentions without being too direct, to try to read what were the real feelings his crush had for him, the once in a lifetime opportunity to see if he could accomplish being by Wei Ying's side as more than a friend. He had dreamt so many times about this, but now that he had the real, well actually not that real, opportunity, he had no idea of what to do. Right now, he deeply wished that his brother was by his side to tell him what to do, how to behave, even how to feel, but he wasn't here. He desperately needed to calm down.

He had been stressing out the whole day about how to tell his brother that he finally managed to ask Wei Ying out but not like really out, still close to it. And after waiting, for what felt like an eternity, it was a decent hour to call his brother, so he unlocked his phone and took a deep breath in an attempt to relax, which didn't actually work that well but he felt good enough or at least he tried to. He dialed his brother's number and on the third ring Lan Xichen picked up.

-Hello, Wangji?- He sounded a little bit asleep, if Lan Zhan was right it was already 5 am where his brother was living, was he wrong? Anyways it was too late, Xichen was already up

-Good morning gege, did I wake you up?- A little guilt seeped into his voice- Did I call to early?

-No, don't worry, it's already five a.m. I was just about to wake up. Why are you calling this early? Did something happened?- His voice still sleepy but somehow worried at the same time

-No it's nothing urgent, it's more of a teenage dilemma- that phrase sounded so weird for Lan Zhan, he never thought he would have such a conversation with his brother.

-Teenage dilemma? Seems like someone is growing up- Lan Xichen was truly delighted, one of his biggest concerns when he left the country was his brother, Wangji was sure smart and polite, but he always had trouble relating with people, mainly with the ones who where his age. So right now, he was happy to know that his little brother was being a teenager, Xichen would be lying if he said he didn't suspect that something was going on with him. Wangji would always call him on weekends and they would talk about college or school, but lately when Xichen asked about Wangji's special person, he would just evade the topic, which was extremely odd, Lan Zhan didn't talk that much, but he really loved to say at least two sentences about Wei Wuxian on their calls.- I'm guessing this has something to do with Young Master Wei, right?

-Mnn...- Wangji fell silent for a second and said- we are going out, on a date- he managed to say or maybe more like mumble

What? Xichen was absolutely not expecting that, every trace of sleepiness left his brain- Let me explain first

Then Wangji proceeded to tell his brother the whole story behind the date, now everything made sense for Xichen, but still it was quite unexpected for his didi to act that way, he really changed when it came to Wei Wuxian, a great change, Xichen felt his heart soften. He went to a lot of dates in his teenage years and he was proud that every one of them was perfect, at least until the one he and his ex-girlfriend broke up. Leaving that aside, he gave a to-do-list for a date to his little brother, he really didn't know Wei Wuxian that much, but he managed to think what they would both like to do and how to cover it as a fake date.

Wei Ying wondered why his outfit was so important to him, he had changed it for the fifth time now, he was never that kind of person. He would always use the first thing that came to his mind, even for formal events, now he was looking at the mirror not quite satisfied with his look. But who could blame him, Lan Zhan didn't tell him what they were going to do, so he had no idea of what to wear. A knock on his door brought him back to reality.

-Come in- he said still looking in the mirror

-Good morning A-Xian- Yanli came inside the room and looked at him with a soft smile- I brought you breakfast

-Ohhh I forgot to eat, thanks shijie you're an angel- the smell of coffee filled the room, Wei Ying thought that probably drinking coffee when he was so nervous would be a bad idea, still he took a sip of that delicious drink.

Shijie looked around and saw tons of clothes spilled in the room- Xianxian why is you room full of clothes? Do you want me to help you order?

-It's okay shijie I just don't know what to wear to my date

-Date? With who?- She was sure that his brother's date was settled for next weekend and her brother wouldn't be making all this effort for a person that he doesn't even know

-I'm going out with Lan Zhan- he said and with just the mere thought of that, his lips curved in a happy smile

-Oh my, A-Xian why didn't you tell me you two were already a couple?- Wei Ying almost spitted the coffee that he was drinking and started to cough

-No no, shijie, I didn't mean it like that, he offered to help me with a fake date so I'm prepared for the real one and I don't bring shame to the family name

-Is that so? Hmm, well don't think too much of what to wear, I'm sure he'll find you lovely in whatever outfit you wear- she gave him a soft smile.

-I told you it's not like that shijie, is not like if I cared about what he thinks of my look...- not even he believes his own lie, but he didn't know why he cared so much either

-Alright, then if you need help, I'll be in the kitchen- she chuckled lightly and then left.

Hiii, I hope everyone is doing great. I'm sorry for updating such a short chapter after so much time, but believe me I barely have enough time to eat (I'm actually having lunch while writing this bc I have a biology test in an hour and I need more time to study😭 send help), let alone sleep. Never thought I would say this but I miss so much being in school, college online sucks and covid also sucks ☹, anyways I also missed updating a lot, so I decided that even if this chapter is not as long as I'm used to, I was going to update.
