Miguel sadly pulled a box of clothes out of the car. This was the second time they moved in four months. "Miguel we can't afford to keep moving. I love you so much, but you can't keep doing things like this. You have to give people time to adjust to your big personality." Carmen explained in the nicest way she could.

Miguel felt bad. All he wanted to do was make a friend. He didn't mean to scare people off. He just wanted to show his love. "I'm sorry mama," he said giving Carmen those big puppy dog eyes. That was her biggest weakness. "It's okay baby" she smiled at him.

As Miguel was getting close to the door someone immediately caught his attention. "Mama look." He alerted. Miguel saw a brown hair boy and instantly wanted to be his friend.

"I'll talk to his father, but I don't want a repeat of last time." Carmen gave her son a playful pinch on the cheek. Miguel decided it was best to let his mom and the neighbors do the talking til he could be introduce.

He learned a lot. The brown hair boy name was Robby, he was twelve like him, he supposed to go into something called foster care because his mom's boyfriend gave him bruises, Robby didn't like his father because he came to get him late and he cursed way a lot. "This is my son Miguel." Once Carmen had said that Miguel felt it was his time.

He immediately hugged Robby. Robby seemed to radiate contempt due to an already bad day. Miguel however couldn't pick up the cues. Luckily Carmen saved the day by inviting the neighbors for dinner.

All through dinner Miguel kept looking at Robby with dreamy eyes. Robby poked Miguel with a fork. Miguel being as misguided as ever laughed at Robby torment of him taking it as a joke.

Robby looked annoyed as hell. "I'm done eating." he rolled his eyes. "Come to my room please!" Miguel begged the other boy.

Robby looked like he was gonna say one of those swears until he smiled. "Yeah come on show me to your room."  Miguel was so excited to show the boy his room. He practically skipped. Robby went ahead in front if him. Miguel bedroom wasn't hard to spot.

"Come on let's ditched this place. I'll be your friend if you follow me." Robby smirked. That smirk practically captured Miguel's heart.

Miguel had never been this happy. He's spent two hours with Robby. He helped Robby steal some candy and ice cream. He licked a tire on a dare by Robby, and he even got the honor of Robby resting his legs on him.

It was like he was in heaven.

"Miguel why do you wanna be my friend? Can't you tell I don't like you?" Robby said.

"Well I want a chance to be your friend. You seem like you deserve a little love." Miguel smiled.

Robby looked as though he was never told he could have love. "I am so sorry." Robby looked down in shame and embarrassment.

"Sorry for what?" Miguel felt more bad for how sad he felt than all the things Robby made him do.

Robby smiled and cupped Miguel's cheek. "For being a dick." he planted a soft kiss onto Miguel's forehead.

Miguel's face lit up. Getting a kiss on the forehead from his mom or grandma was one thing, but this was an entirely different feeling.

Seeking a friendship was now the last thing on Miguel's mind. He wanted to be Robby's everything.

Everything that happened after was a blur. He remember his mom picking up and yelling something at Mr. Lawrence, he was too busy focusing on the rush he was feeling in his chest.

All thanks to Robby Keene.
