The start of a new adventure

     I woke up and was greeted with the same old dingy white ceiling, I wiped the sleep out of my eyes and got out of bed as my messy room came into view. I walked over the meny papers thrown on my floor and started to get ready for school, I quickly finished brushing my unruly brown hair and putting on my favorite black hoodie and walked down the stairs to grab some toast for breakfast when I saw my mom on the phone.

     "Goodmorning mom." I say in a monotone voice as I put a piece of bread in the toaster.

     "Yeah uh, Goodmorning honey, look I have to head into the office do you think you'll be able to walk to school today?" She said as she looked for her car keys.

     "Sure-." I was cut of by the sound of the front door being slammed shut.

     "......mom." I could hear my disappointment seep into my voice.

     I guess I cant really be mad at her, shes trying her best after all. I just wished she would pay more attention to me. Dad always made sure I felt seen, heard, loved. I miss dad so much, I wished he could've have stayed with us.

     My thoughts were interrupted by the toaster dinging as I looked down and realized I had started crying. I wiped the tears off my face as I grabbed the toast and put my backpack on.

     I opened my door and started to walk towards the school when I spotted my closest friend, Veronica! She was giggling with one of her other friends as she popped her bubble gum.

     "Hey, Veronica! Over here!" I yelled as I ran towards her.

     "Oh...hey Magnolia." She said as she stopped giggling and looked slightly annoyed.

     "How have you been, friend?" I said enthusiastically, me and Veronica have been best friends for as long as I can remember!

     "Ive been doing good. Look I have to go." She said as she and her friend speed walked away toward the school.

     "Oh, ok! See ya later friend!" I say as Victoria and her friend turns the corner into the school.

     I finished my toast and walked into the school and weaved through the crowd of students to my locker to put my books away as someone shoved my head into my locker.

     "Ha, NERD!" I heard someone yell from the crowd.

     I hear a giggle ripple through the crowed as I picked up my now crumpled up homework as I tried to hide my embarrassment, everyone was suddenly interrupted by the piercing noise of the bell as they all shuffled off to there classes.

     'God I hate school, what did I ever do to them!' I thought glumly as I picked up my things and head off to class.

     "Magnolia, you're late agian. Did you at least remember to bring your homework?"

     "Y-Yes Ms. Rachel." I pulled out the crumpled up homework out of my bag and handed it to her as my face turned a bright shade of crimson. I walked back to my seat on the brink of tears and waited for this awful day to end.

     I walked down the sidewalk with my head hanging down as I felt my back being pelted with water balloons and the sound of loud laughter. I whipped around to see Veronica running away with three other girls trailing behind her.

     I sprinted the rest of the way home sobbing my eyes out. 'How could she! I thought we were friends! Shes a traitor and a liar and, and, and a bully!' I fumed as I opened the door to my house and ran up the stairs. I changed my clothes before throwing myself on my bed and curled up In my blankets, after a while I could feel myself drifting off to sleep.

This is one of the first story's I've ever actually put effort into so I hope you like it!
Ill probably update every few days so stay tuned :D
