Lee is a girl who was born in a poor family. She lives with his parents. She has an old brother, but he married. So, she is the only one daughter of her parents at the moment who not married yet. She is obsessed to be a successful person. She likes to study and learn something new. She likes to work hard until he got the highest point of she what want. After she graduated from Vocational High School, she works at a Japan company. She tried several times about 7 times with different polytechnic to join the selection of marine cadet. It started from 2015-2018 she tried to join several state polytechnic of maritime. She passed by degrees. In 2015 she passed the first step in the Academic level, but failed in Psychology test. 2016 she tried again in 2 (two) different polytechnic, but yeah she can pass all test but, failed in the last step. She never gave up at that moment, she tried again but the same with last year. In 2017 she has prepared all the material test, but then it was not the time for her to be what she wants to. She tried and studied hard to face up the selection in 2018,. She tried the biggest state marine polytechnic in her country. She almost passed, but there was no chance again for her self. She cried, but time answered her pray through 2015-2018. Yes, as what you just read she wanted to be a sailor. She wanted to cross all sea in the world. But, from that experiences she though she can not Actually, she is a good planner. She started to study in an education city in her country. She studies about IT in an executive class. She works as full-time employee, part-time freelancer teacher, and studies as an IT student in Jogjakarta.
Why she choose Jogjakarta for her study? Because she loves everything about the culture, challenge, and new experiences. She fell in love with Jogjakarta. She wonders that she can live here someday. Every weekday, she works in Jakarta, but every weekend she goes to Jogjakarta only for her study. She go to Jogjakarta by train from Pasar Senen to Jogjakarta station. She is awesome with the culture there. The people, the city, the food, the situation, the weather, the price of the things there are cheaper than in Jakarta. "Hope I can live here until my pension, not only for the education." Her friends there are come from other cities also. So, she never shocked if her friends there are not local from Jogjakarta but mostly they come from other cities like Solo, Purworejo, Cilacap, Kebumen, Magelang, or Sukabumi. That's why she likes Jogja very much than for study there.
After she finished the class, she usually goes to Malioboro or Angkringan only to have a conversation with her friends there. When she has a conversation with her friends maybe start from 8 pm until midnight, there still crowded because of the visitors from other cities just relax for their weekend. In Jogjakarta also she can easily see the green field through her way from Jakarta to Jogjakarta by train.
It is not only about the beautiful and happiness when she study there about 4 years. In Jakarta, She works really hard. She can maintain her income for her outcome easily. One day, he went to Jogjakarta when her condition was not good at that moment. She has to choose between work in the weekend or her study. She had a mid examination at that moment. But, she choose to work. She asked permission from her lecturer about make-up mid-exam. She can join the makeup mid-exam, but she must pay about one million rupiah. She pawned her necklace to pay her amercement. She joined the test the next week. When her score launched, she shocked that she got only B for all course. She thought that she can do the mid-exam. She asked the academic staff, then they answered that she considered taking the remedial exam. She allowed to join the make-up test, but the score she will get the minimum score. She cried and so frustrated. The next semester when Ramadhan came, she got an accident she must be hospitalized and got an operation. Her hospital expenses was covered by the insurance, but she must pay the bill which out from the facility she got from the insurance. One night, because of her operation and the effect of anesthesia run out, she asked the nurse to gave her medicine to cut the pain because she could not sleep at that moment. She paid about five hundred thousand rupiahs. Afterward, she got into trouble with her income. She kicked from her division and moved to another division. She frustrated and tried other chances to cover her economy. She teaches students around her. She gets some money to cover her living cost.
When she just started in the seventh semester, Coronavirus came into Indonesia and make all the things by online learning. So, she can not visit Jogjakarta. Meanwhile, she comes from Jakarta, of course, she is not allowed to go out from Jakarta. Yeah, it was only less than 4 years until in April 2020 she graduated her bachelor's degree by online graduation. Why the pandemic makes her self with Jogjakarta separated like this. She wants to stay a long time with Jogjakarta actually, but the pandemic will never end until she graduated and got cumlaude (with honors) predicate. She's sad and she tried to applied for a scholarship abroad and surprisingly in August 2020 she accepted to continue her master's degree in India. How satisfied she is and she was so grateful. The first semester of her master degree she started by online learning in Indonesia. New normal came and she went to Jogjakarta for two weeks only for holiday in Malioboro, 0 KM, Tugu Jogja, visited beach in Gunung Kidul, enjoyed her favorite food called "Nasi Ayam Geprek Kobis Terong Cabe Dua" and she never forgets to bought batik and ate Gudeg before someday she will go to India to continue her study there and she will be missing Jogja for sure.
Jogja is a city of the student, city of education, city of culture. Everyone who visited there will come back for their own reasons. Lee is the same. Someday she will be going to India, she hopes that she will always has a reason to come back to Jogja after she finishes her master study. 4 years is not enough only to fall in love with Jogja, but it needs to spend our whole lifetime if we want to be the part of Jogja's history.
