It all started 16 years ago. Noah Stilinski met Nora Allen at a bar, both on breaks from their marriages, ended up getting drunk, ending in a one night stand. It resulted in her getting pregnant. Although, by the time she found out, she and her husband had gotten back together. She already had a son from her marriage and he was 8 years old, so with a pregnancy with a different guy, she didn't know how she was going to explain this. 

After all those problems were solved, her marriage stuck together as well as Noah's, fought through the entanglement they caused. She had a baby boy and Noah was allowed to visit, but known to Nora's son, Barry, he was just a family friend, so he didn't know the truth about his brother having a different father. He and his baby brother, Stiles, grew up together till the time time Stiles was 2 years old and their mother was murdered. Barry's father was falsely arrested for her murder, having Noah take Stiles and Barry going to his best friends. With Noah taking Stiles, he took him to his home with his wife, in Beacon Hills, California. Since they were in California and Barry was left in Central City. In hope, memories from his past won't remind him of his mother, so they decided to keep the boys away from each other. Stiles being so young, never remembered he had a brother, for Barry as the years went by it only felt like a dream. 

Stiles got to grow up with his father and step-mom. Stiles never got know the truth about his bio mom or about having a brother. He went years thinking the only brother he had was his best friend, Scott. They went through everything together, including getting sucked into the supernatural world. Fighting battles against the bad guys or creatures. 

Barry grew up with his best friend and her father as his foster family. After his mother's death, he never seen or heard about his brother, almost believing he was just a figment of his imagination.To have hope that he'd still have someone alive or out in the world that's his blood family. He continued to let that sit at the back of his mind and try to live his life, also trying to find his mother's real killer. To get his father out of jail and his family back to normal. Normal leaves his vocabulary when he's 25, gets struck by lightning and turned into something impossible. Gaining his speed, becoming the impossible, gave him the opportunity to help save people.
