Chapter 3: Messing things up a lesson by Favion Freeman

"Babe, murder was not on todays agenda. That's on Tuesday, wait until tomorrow." Rose gently lowers Maria's arm which was controlling some plants that are choking Liberator.

Maria whines, "Honey please, better him than anyone else." she tries to lift her arm up again.

Rose shakes her head, "Let him go, we have to go anyways."

"Fine," Maria releases the plants.

Oddly enough, it's the middle of the day after school. Maria and Rose had to do a quick heist, but someone had to try and bust them.

"Dude, you are real bad at your job, whatever it is your job is." Rose leans on Maria who opens a portal.

Maria pushes Rose into the portal before jumping in herself. They end up back in the sewers and start laughing.

"That was funny, how did he know that we would be there after school?" Rose asks Maria.

Maria shakes her head and takes off her goggles, "I have no idea. But I find it weird how he didn't put up a fight."

"Babe, what's that on your neck." Rose taps the back of Maria's neck, on it is a little black dot that was never there.

"What is it? Rose what is it?" Maria questions with urgency.

Maria can feel Rose messing with the dot, but nothing happens. Rose tries to pull the dot off, but it doesn't come off.

"Hey, mind giving us some electricity. Maybe you can burn it off." Rose takes a few steps back and hides behind one of the curtains.

"Sure, just give me a sec." Maria shakes her head a few times before taking a deep breath and focusing on what she wants to happen.

Rose pokes out from the curtain, "Maria, are you even trying?"

Maria nods violently, "Yeah, I'm trying. You know how I can just visualize what I want from my abilities and it happens?" Rose nods. "Well I can't do that anymore. The vision is blurry, not even there. And you know how this stuff works."

"Can't see it, can't do it." Rose comes out from the curtain and opens her arms for Maria. "C'mere." Maria runs into her arms. "It's okay, we'll just ask Esme about this. Maybe she can do something."

Favion returns to his headquarters to report to Dr. Gomez.

"It's on Madness, couldn't get Thorn, but then again Thorn isn't a threat." Favion removes his mask to let himself breath.

Dr. Gomez, a petite Mexican woman with long dark hair, piercing grey eyes, dark golden skin, and her usual attire of a lab coat, black scrubs, and white tennis shoes. She has a weird tattoo on the back of her neck, but Favion has only ever seen it once.

"Good, I would have preferred if you could get both but that's fine." Dr. Gomez writes something on her clipboard. "You're off for the rest of the day, you have to meet with that tutor of your, right?"

"Umm... yeah, but I can stay and skip if you need me to do patrol." Favion gestures to his mask.

"No, I am in charge of a serious operation. I can not risk having a sophomore, who is failing a math class, be our hero." Dr. Gomez slams her clipboard down on a nearby table. "Get that grade up before I get a replacement. That friend Maria of yours, she did gymnastics for years and she's the top of your class, I wouldn't mind having her on the team." She gives Favion a wicked grin. "Am I understood?" She asks through her pearly teeth.
