"Brush your teeth" sang Prince Gumball as he sang his evening teeth brushing song." Brush 'em right!Because horrors live in cavities. And they come out at night."
A big noise interrupted his song with a "CLANG" of a shattered glass from a test tube and a metal tray.He turned around in a surprise. The windows were open thankfully water on the floor from the shattered test tube. Gumball squinted his eyes to see if he could see what caused the problem but no luck.
Gumball quickly put his tooth brush away and rinsed his recently cleaned mouth.
"Anyone there." He asked hoping for peppermint maid to say something. He waited for a moment but nothing. Not a sound just the summer breeze from the open window.
Carefully walking out of the bathroom he looked out the window with curiosity. He wondered for a moment what would have caused his window to open. Quickly giving up, he shut the window and began to pull the curtains together when he felt a quick breeze on his neck. Slowly turning around he saw Marshal Lee siting in the darkness.
"OH MY GLOB" he screamed covering his self with his arms."I AM IN MY UNDERWEAR"
Instead of replying Marshal Lee continued to sit looking down into the darkness. He frowned looking at his blood red sneakers.
" Marshal..." Gumball said in a soft gentle voice." Marshal ..what are you doing here?"
" I .." He stopped to take a deep breath." I don't ... I don't know." He turned his cheek to the right facing away from Gumball.
" If your not going to talk then will you please.." Gumball was interrupted.
"I am sorry." Said Marshal." I am sorry" he said once more
Gumball was shocked. He never heard Marshal say sorry and sound like he really meant it.
" I just.." Marshal began. " I just need to talk to you about something"
Marshal turned his head toward Gumball. Then quickly looked away embarrassed to share his feelings.
"Do..do you ever feel so alone.. That you doubt your own existence?" He said quietly.
Gumball looked down thinking of what to say. His hand reached over his neck in guilt.
"I ..Marshal I don't understand." He was cut off once more
" OF COURSE YOU DON'T." Said Marshal as he stood up crossing his arms in disappointment. As he muttered under his breath. " This was a stupid idea."
"MARSHAL I GET IT" yelled Gumball standing looking at the back of Marshal lee. Already frustrated with his friend he began to tighten his fists.
"No you don't." He jerked his head around." You haven't lived as long as I have." His eyes began to turn more and more red as he spoke. " You don't know what it is like for everyone you know grow old and DIE."
" One day you will forget me too." Whispered Gumball looking into the eyes of his soulless friend." And leave just like everybody else does."
A tear rolled off of Marshal's cheek as his eyes began to fade from red to the original brown. Both looking into each other's eyes they stared at one another one more sad than the other. Marshal quickly dropped his head in shame.
" I am sorry I will leave."
Marshal began to walk past Gumball and head for the window when Gumball called his name. He turned around in shock. Gumball walked closer and close to Marshal and kissed his cold lips while holding his black hoodie. As he slowly pulled away he whispered something.
" I will never forget about you Marshal."
Marshal quickly pulled Gumball close as he huged him while kissing him. He began to more one of his feet forward as Gumball fell back onto his bed.Marshal dropped his sweater and began to climb onto his pink friend. As Marshal kissed Gumball he came to his senses.
"Wait" he said in a confused tone."Stop."
Marshal looked up in embarrassment. His cheeks began to turn red as he stepped off the bed. Gumball covered his face thinking what he had just began. Before Gumball could speak he heard a knock. The door cracked open.
" My lord" said Peppermint Maid."Is everything alright?"
" Yes, I am fine. Thank you.. G-Goodnight."
" Okay, goodnight" and with that she shut the door.
Gumball turned around to finish his sentence but no one was there. No one but a open window that let in a summer breeze and let go of a special friend.
