I skipped down to the kitchen whistling "Greensleeves". "Susy could you help me pack a basket for the master we're going out in the forest to collect firewood?" I called ahead as I skipped through the kitchen door. "Yes of course Mary, we could put the last of the apple tarts, cheese, bread, and the master will be wanting ale. Yes ale, theres no question about that." I ran after her looking for everything. I found the ale, and helped Susy with the rest.
"It's a beautifull basket I must admit." Susy said with a little laugh at the end.
I skipped to the backyard to meet master James with the picnic basket. Again whistling "Greensleeves" as I skipped.
"You seem to be in high spirits today Mary, may I ask why in such a bright mood today?" Master James asked as I arrived at his side. "I do not know master James." I lied through my teeth, for in truth it was becuase our escape seemed to nearer as every minute passed I would think of the details as to our return. Wait was that a horse drawn wagon. "What is the wagon for sir?" I asked puzzled as to its job."It is to carry the wood back would you have me make you carry the wood back? No I would never make you do that. Nor I fancy I could do it myself." I laughed at that.
We headed out into the woods. Me humming Greensleeves as we went."Since you seem to like "Greensleeves" so much why don't we sing it to pass the time."
Alas, my love, you do me wrong,
To cast me off discourteously.
For I have loved you well and long,
Delighting in your company.
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady greensleeves.
By this time we had made it into the forest and master James was helping me down from the wagon. "Could you hand me that ax?" He asked as I went to the back. I gave him the ax and we contined with our song.
Your vows you've broken, like my heart,
Oh, why did you so enrapture me?
Now I remain in a world apart
But my heart remains in captivity.
Greensleeves was all my joy
CHOP
Greensleeves was my delight,
Chop
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
Chop
And who but my lady greensleeves.
Master James added the sound of his ax to our voices.
I have been ready at your hand,
To grant whatever you would crave,
I have both wagered life and land,
Your love and good-will for to have.
Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady greensleeves.
If you intend thus to disdain,
It does the more enrapture me,
And even so, I still remain
A lover in captivity.
