Virgil felt weird.

I suppose that was the best word to describe it.

It was a good type of weird, though. He felt vulnerable, but still safe, somehow. Usually, the two cancelled each other, so the feeling was completely out of place for just barely having woken up.

He pressed his forehead closer into the body, a small groan leaving his lips. He supposed it was a sign of rebellion against the rays of light making their way into his eyes.

"You awake?"

The voice was barely above a whisper and Virgil just then realized that the fingers were gently massaging his scalp stopped in mid action.

Virgil frowned, opening his eyes. He blinked a few eyes at both the shaky inhale from the person and the light flooding his vision.

"Yeah..." he whispered, nuzzling his noze into Roman's collar bone.

Roman.

Virgil bolted up almost immediately, because oh god, he had fallen asleep on Roman of all people!

There was a sick sense of dread building up in his stomach, trying to claw its way outside. How had he been so stupid? Damn his sleep deprived self and his lack of anxious judging. If he had been a bit more aware of his surroundings, Virgil would have refused Roman altogether.

The little voice in his mind helpfully supplied :  "He was just trying to help you!"

Okay, so maybe it had a point. Roman's only reason was wanting Virgil to be rested and healthy. Right?

He fumbled with his hands, placing them on Roman's shoulders as tiny black dots clouded his vision, until he couldn't see anymore.

What had possessed him to get up so quickly?

He begrudgingly opened his eyes, after pressing the palms of his hands on them in order to make the effect go away quicker.

Okay, he didn't see black anymore.

Instead, he saw Roman. Roman with his messed up hair (that Virgil had no doubtedly caused) and wide eyes. Roman with a light blush spread across his cheeks and his head titled in confusion. Virgil was sure his heart would explode,, who even looks this perfect at any time?

"Roman, probably" said the voice in his mind. Virgil agreed.

"Are you alright?" Roman asked, the tiniest hint of confusion in his voice.

Virgil took a moment to calm himself before answering

"Yeah, I just ... forgot where I was for a second and panicked."

Virgil technically hadn't lied. He had indeed panicked, but only because he remembered where he was. Who wouldn't, if their tired self decided it would be a good idea to fall asleep on the person they had feelings for?

Virgil made a mental note to never come and see Roman unless he had had a full night's sleep.

He watched the tiniest bit of tension in Roman's shoulders disappear. He believed him.

Then, Virgil took note of the position they were in. A dark blush spread across his cheeks as his eyes widened.

How the hell had he ended up straddling Roman?

If his heart wasn't already hammering in his chest, it sure was now. His throat was suddenly dry and his brain went blank.

Holy shit, he was straddling Roman.

Virgil looked at Roman, who had a soft frown on his face. His gaze flickered down (had it hovered on Virgil’s lips?) and then the look of realization passed his face.

He wasn't mad?

Or uncomfortable?

That was good.

He pushed himself up at the same time Roman did.

Virgil somehow managed to fall to the ground, pulling Roman down on top of him.

The apology died in Virgil’s throat.

"sorry" Roman whispered before him, out of breath and flushed and holy shit did that voice do something to Virgil.

(why did Roman keep looking at his lips?

maybe it was just his imagination)

Roman threw his bag on the other side of the room, closing the front door behind him.

"You seem in a... mood today" Remus placed his fork back on the plate, squinting his eyes at his brother.

"And you're home. Guess we're both surprised today." there was no venom in his voice, the encounter earlier depriving him of any hint of negative emotion.

Remus paused for a second, frowning. He jumped off the table, putting his plate on it. A wicked grin spread across his face.

"OOOOH YOU SAW THAT PRINCE TODAY AGAIN!"

Roman sighed. "Stop screaming, Re"

The other jumped around, fist bumping the air. He giggled.

"Roman's in looove, Roman's in looove"

Remus was quickly shut up by Roman's hand slapped against his mouth. He raised an eyebrow, licking it.

Roman made a face of disgust, cleaning his hand on Remus's shoulder.

"You're disgusting."

"I know!"

Remus sounded way too gleeful while saying those words.

Roman shook his head, taking off his coat and hanging it.

"Sooo..."

"So what?" Roman asked, already regretting it by the wild look on his brothers face

"Did you fuck?"

Roman sputtered.

Remus grinned yet again.

"You didn't, but you're thinking about it now!"

Roman hid his face in his hands. "Don't say that..."

"You're not complaining though, are you?"

"REMUS!"

"You're so red in the face! Like a,, how would Logan say it..." he stopped to think.

"Solanum lycopersicum" Roman completed him.

He clicked his fingers. "Yes! I can never remember that name."

Roman shrugged, thankful that they'd gotten off ... that topic.

"On the subject of tomatoes, did you make any dinner?"

Remus nodded. Roman squinted his eyes.

"No you didn't. When did you learn to lie so well?" Roman sighed, turning around to look at the table.

There was a short silence that followed his question. "I guess I just picked it up."

Roman hummed : "yeah, right"

There was a heavy silence around the room. It always was when it came to the topic of who Remus hung out with.

Roman felt a poke to his side. He turned around to see Remus in a battle stance, holding a stick like a sword.

Roman grinned, despite himself. Ever since they were little, they would always play fight.

He gasped, falling to the floor.

"You traitor! You have stabbed me in the... side!"

Remus's smile faltered for a second,  but soon enough he grinned again.

"You were a fool to trust me!"

Roman nearly laughed. Today had been a good day.
