y/n's pov
the evening was cold yet quiet, no one was speaking. the manor wasn't its usual happy self. ever since i got sick we all knew it would cut my time in the manor short.
currently everyone.. even the hunters were all here around the dining table. the odd quiet whisper could be heard and once someone was finished they got up and left.
sometimes i feel like it's my fault everyone got sad.
i loved them all, even the hunters. i wasn't that close with some of the survivors but still... they were like my family.
"y/n dear once you've finished i'll walk you up the ward, okay?" emily said with her soft voice.
i smiled and nodded. my eyes wandered over to my partner.. aesop. he seemed.. quiet. not sad but not happy. fine but not fine.
"a-aesop can you come with me?" i stuttered.
"of course, darling" he smiled, but it seemed.. force. i tried not to frown and gritted my teeth trying not to cry.

aesop's pov
y/n had finished eating their meal. i finished just before them but waited to take them to the ward with emily. i sighed. we walked in unison, not in an awkward silence but a comforting silence. y/n talked a lot less recently. i think it's because they... know it's going to happen soon. god why. why y/n? why not me? why...

"thank you aesop.. emily.." they smiled at the two of us.
"it's quite alright y/n! i'll go get your meds and leave you two alone for a bit, okay?" emily said gathering some stuff.

my  hands wandered in their hair as i looked down at y/n, their expression was... unreadable.
"you know i love you..." i whispered close to their ear.

"a...aesop? i.. will you move on once i'm gone?" they stuttered trying not to sound upset by the thought of that.

dear... i didn't even think about moving on. i only wanted to be with them... forever... and always.
i didn't answer. i lifted my mask down and kissed them on the top of their head.

emily came in with y/n's meds then left us alone again.
i sat beside their bed as they stared at the wall.. with the same blank expression.

i'm not ready to leave you darling.
never.
ever...

y/n's pov
i was very... cold.
i had noticed my discoloured skin recently... my frail hand clutched onto my lovers healthier hand.
sad eyes locked to my gaze... he's all i could ever want.
i let out a quiet noise, my body felt... pain.
a lot more than usual.
it felt... dizzy and unreal.
my eyesight was blurry and dark... confusing.
"aesop?" i tried to talk but i could barely hear myself.
oh no
was it finally happening?
"goodbye my darling..."
was the last thing i could say before it all started going silent.

aesop's pov
it'd been... 4 days now. 4 days since they died.
i hadn't had a single manor match.
i hadn't talked to anyone... they said they'd love me forever... little did i know.
they meant their forever... not my forever.
goodbye my darling. rest well~
