You've been in training camp for three months at this point, and a part of the 104th Cadet Corps. It was lunch time now, and you sat alone. Everyone had their cliques now: Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. Sasha, Jean and Connie. Reiner and Bertholdt, and Ymir and Krista to name a few. You didn't really like Eren, he was too hot-headed, the same problem Ymir had. Mikasa was too...devoted, and it was creepy to you. Armin was just a little bitch. You didn't think he was cut out to be a soldier at all, and were surprised he lasted this long.
You looked up from the bean soup you were nursing and noticed Annie Leonhart coming towards you with her tray. Annie was a stoic girl, about a year younger than you. She was very beautiful, but very hard to talk to, and you had a crush on her, big time. You always made an effort to admire her without getting caught staring. If she knew, she never said anything. Annie made her way to you, looking down at you with those sapphire blue eyes.
"Is this seat taken?" She asked, her dead expression unwavering.
"No, you can take it," you responded, expecting her to take it somewhere and sit on her own, but she pulled it out, sat down, and scooted in across from you. "You've got to be fucking kidding me", you thought, "Annie's sitting with me? Since when?" She didn't attempt to make conversation; she just sat there and ate her beans. Working up the nerve, you decided to break the silence.
"How's your day been going, Annie?" You asked. It hit you what you'd said and you immediately regretted it. Really, (F/N)? 'How's your day been going, Annie?', are you kidding me?
She looks up from her food and shrugs. "Seeing as it's nine in the morning, it's going pretty alright. I'm just tired."
"That's good to hear." You said.
The conversation died there, and you both ate the rest of breakfast in silence. Annie was a silent beauty. You looked at her face, those blue eyes were solemn, but there was a deep intelligence in them. You loved her golden hair in her signature updo, unfortunately, however, you'd never seen her not wear it up. It seemed Annie was done with her food, and so were you. It was, almost magically, around this time that the door opened. In stepped Keith Shadis, the commandant of the camp.
"Alright, maggots," He yelled. "I expect each and every one of you to haul your sorry asses out to the training grounds for hand to hand combat training! If you aren't there in five minutes I will make sure you run 'till sundown!" With that, Shadis marched out the door, leaving it to slam behind him.
Annie stood up, rumbling the table. "(L/N), you wanna train with me today? I've decided I'm not gonna skip."
You were beyond shocked, Annie never attended hand to hand training, she just usually slinked off somewhere to do God knows what. Probably sleep. "Uh, yeah, sure, Annie. I'll spar with you." This pleased you, as you wanted to spend more time with Annie and figure out how she worked.
Annie nodded and made a "follow me" motion with her right hand. She opened the door and the sunlight was blinding. You covered your eyes and winced.
Annie strode with an air of confidence. The open training grounds had watchtowers dotted throughout them, with a forest edge creeping up on the side. Annie took you towards the forest edge, but stopped before getting to it. Just to get away from the rest of the people training. The rays of sun cutting through the trees reflected against Annie's hair, and lighting her face up. She looked like a goddess in every sense of the word.
"Hey, you ready?" She said, holding up her arms in front of her face, and arching her right knee. Her signature stance. You'd seen her throw Eren and Reiner both with that.
"Y-Yeah, I'm ready." You threw your arms up and charged.
In the split second you decided to charge, Annie wrapped her arms around your back, which you didn't mind, looking back at it, then swept your legs out from under you, throwing you over her shoulder in under a second. The next thing you knew, you were looking at your thighs and the blue sky. What the fuck just happened? You thought. The sky is kinda pretty though. After staring at the sky long enough, you see two sapphire eyes peer over you.
