Adrien POV

12 years later

A cold breeze hit my face once I exited my car and I sniffed in the fresh air. It had been a very long day for me at work and I was excited to see my wife and kids.

I walked up the steps towards the entrance of our mansion as I reached into my pockets to grab my keys.

It was still a little bit weird to live in this house again... Turns out, my dad had left his mansion for me, it was supposed to be my 25th-anniversary gift, the age that he and mom met.

Sure, I hated him for what he had done. He had kidnapped the love of my life and terrorized Paris for many years, but he was still my father... I couldn't help but love him.

Once I heard the news that I would inherit the mansion, pure shock was all I felt for a moment. Then I felt Marinette's hand on my knee, my fiancé at the time, and finally snapped out of my daze.

Of course, I accepted it because it was an amazing place for our future kids to grow up, but it was still weird. It had been a dark place for me when I lived there, the only bright moments the moments with my mom. So I thought of those moments instead of the bad ones and thought about how I wanted my kids to have those.

I even talked to my father... Yes, after seven years I had finally visited him in prison, and to be honest, I was terrified.

I had put him in jail. I had kept him from mom. I had ruined his life. Not that I felt guilty, but I knew that he would lash out at me.

Natalie also ended up in jail for obvious reasons but had fewer years than my dad. She had of course helped me and my dad was the mastermind of the whole plan, not she.

I had begged Marinette to come with me to prison and thankfully she didn't argue. She knew how hard it was for me to do it and of course, it was also really hard for her to do, but she decided to support me. I was so thankful for that.

We walked hand in hand towards the room where we would be talking with him and my hand that wasn't holding hers was trembling. I swallowed the huge lump in my throat as I entered and I already saw my dad sitting on one side of the table, hands handcuffed on the table.

When he looked up at me, my breathing hitched. I had expected a glare and cold eyes, but his eyes were soft and a small smile even formed on his face.

"Adrien." He breathed out, then looking at our hands and smiling even wider.

"Hi, father." I greeted him as we took a seat.

He stared at me for a few seconds, taking in my appearance. Of course, I had aged quite a lot over the years and I wasn't surprised that he had to take it all in.

"You've changed a lot since I last saw you, you look really mature." He said, a slight rasp in his voice. His eyes began to water and I saw that he was trying to keep his tears in.

"You have changed a lot too, it has been seven years of course," I replied, running my free hand through my hair, my other hand still intertwined with my fiance.

"Yes, it has been a while", he sighed, "I'm glad that you have decided to visit. I'm guessing it's because of my gift?"

I nodded looking down at the table. "Thank you for that. It means a lot to me. I know that you gave it now because I'm at the age that you and mom met years ago. I promise you, I'll take good care of it."
