Mimicking the actions of my father and mother, I too stand and keep my face still as the royal family enters the banquet hall.
My family watch, from the elevated platform of the hall, once we see that the family are making their way towards us, we step back and take a seat at our thrones.
The mindless chatter that once filled the banquet hall, has now turned to hushed whispers as the nobles and dutchess give their respectful bows to the arrived King.
King-Smith and his family reach the bottom of our stairs, my father barely shifts his fingers, but the King notices the slight twitch nonetheless and makes his way up after been approved. As a sign of respect, my father decides to sit up and stop leaning on his elbow.
"King-Smith, we are very grateful that you could make it, you had a pleasant journey through my empire I assume." My father, the Emperor of the entire Northern side, was bragging about his nation, showcasing what greatness it offers.
"Yes, of course, the Emperor's land is nothing to merely glance at. My family and I would also like to personally thank you for your hospitality as well as for throwing this generous banquet at our arrival, we truly feel welcomed at the heart of the Northern side."
"sigh"
My head whips at that, did someone just whisper 'sigh'? Who on earth is impudent enough to showcase such disrespect?
Apparently, I was not the only one who heard that, because the other two at the person's side were silently scolding the culprit, a brunette with thick-rimmed circular glasses. Once my eyes land on the brunette behind King-Smith, I also take notice of the other two at their side. In between the three figures, I recognised the King's son, Prince Erwin Smith.
But who are the two at Erwin's side?
My course of thought was interrupted once I felt a heavy hand landing on my head, looking up I'm met with the cold and piercing gaze of my father, a tight smile stretched across his face.
"Dear, the King was addressing you, show him respect when you are being spoken to."
Immediately my head whips towards the awaiting King and I bow respectfully, inclining my head downwards. "My greatest apologies Your Highness, -" Before I had a chance to give a formal apology for my disregard, he already had interrupted me.
"No need to apologise, my dear, I doubt you wanted to answer my boring questions anyway," he chuckles, a light rosy colour had spread upon my face, "if I may," he draws in close, now kneeling in front of me. His hand reaches out and my fathers hand moves away, the King gently strokes my head, "Your Highness, can you please show my son and his friends around, I really do feel as though the four of you would become great friends."
I looked up to my father, only met with the sight of his lifeless eyes, watching my every move, noting every simple breath. Then shifting my attention towards the notorious three figures. The one at the left was very clearly scowling, either annoyed at this banquet or me, maybe both. Prince Erwin, the only face I was familiar with, only due to the fact that it's my duty to be affiliated with other high members of society. And then at the far right, was the same brunette that spoke the words 'sigh'.
This was clearly an interesting mix.
I turn my head towards King-Smith, I was honestly going to say no to his invitation, but his eyes looked so warm and inviting. I saw innocence and nothing but fatherly love. How is this the man that rules one of the most feared countries?
"It would be my honour, Your Highness." I answered.
