Nikolai's POVI'm not very good at putting my feelings out there for everyone to see, but after I saw her like that I'm sure they were written all over my face. Fear. Worry. Regret.
The situation was completely out of my hands. I didn't know what to do, what to say, or how to act. I did nothing.
My entire life I've been taught to bury my feelings where no one would ever find them, so thats what I did. I buried my feelings until eventually they didn't exist.
From the day I was born my fate was decided and this is who I am. I fully accept the devil in me, but will she? Will I give her a choice? There are so many unanswered questions lingering in my mind and I don't know if they'll ever be answered. Patience is key, but I've never had any.
I didn't get this position handed to me. I paid for it in blood and scars because that's who I am, who I became. I need to make her understand, but first I need to make her happy or just not sad really. When I think about what to do to lift her spirits I come up with one option I can't seem to commit to.
Letting her go. Not an option. The stakes are high right now with him watching, lurking like the fucking sicko he is. I need her here, where I know she'll be safe, but being alone all the time is what caused her "freak out" in the first place.
The only other option is getting her some company but that Jade of hers is not somebody I want putting ideas in her head, so I'll just buy her a dog.

When I finally arrive at the kennel, I applaud my decision to drive the Range Rover and not one my cars. I don't want some mutt messing up anything.
The jingle of a bell sounds as I open the door, there's a young girl behind the front desk. She doesn't even look old enough to be in here, as I get closer I realize she's standing on a chair behind the counter.
"How may I help you sir?" She ask, in the squeakiest voice I've ever heard.
I look around the place for an adult, but see no one, so I decide to play along.
"Uh I'm looking for a dog little one, you are boss here so can you help me find a dog?"
"Absolutely," she says pronouncing the word extremely wrong, "but... I'm not really the boss, its just pretend."
The girl climbs down of the chair she's on like a spider monkey and just then a lady walks out. An older lady and behind her is a small puppy.
"How may I help you?" She asks me.
"I'm here for a dog. One that is preferably trained." I tell her.
"This small pup is the one trained dog we have and I don't think she would fit your standards very well sir." She replies trying to be polite.
"Its not for me so I will get the dog anyway."
"If you are positive I'll get her ready for you. I don't don't sell the necessary equipment for a dog. I'm only supposed to give a standard leash and collar plus a transport gage to take the dogs away in, so you'll have to buy everything somewhere else." I nod at this information.
While getting everything together the lady tells me the dogs name, her story of how they came in possession of her, and all about how to take care of it.
I squat down in front of the dog and let it get used to my scent and scratch it behind the ear. It immediately takes a liking to me. I know that if this dog is warming to me I'll have no problem getting to know someone like her.
After finalizing everything I make one more stop to gather some things for the dog and head back home.
