SARANGAHEYO CHINGU!

 

            Starry, starry night. Paint your palette blue and gray. Look out on a summer’s day. With eyes that knows a darkness in my soul.

            As stars beam upon the sky and the wind touches my grimace, silence is whispering upon my ears. I gaze at the angelic and handsome face of Maxx Agria while he was meddling upon the stars. It had never struck in my mind to thank my past life that I met this perfect guy that every girl could have wish for – he has the looks, - oh scratch that! He has the total psyche of a Greek god – he can sing, dance, and even ace an Algebra test. Those smiles of his were just the most comforting and melting one that I could just stare at him all day long.

“Gabby, don’t stare at me like that. Do I have some dirt on my face? I know I’m too handsome.” I was brought back to my senses when he called me while grinning.

“I… I am n..not staring at y,,you! I thought you’re already asleep and I would gaze at these stars a..alone,” I lied. My heart stopped for a second when he buggered off his chair and moved forward just right in front of my face! I can even smell his peppermint mouth wash! Not even a single wrong move or I will be kissed by Maxx.

“Oh really Gaby Kwon? Then why are you stuttering?” he said, giving me a suspicious look.

“I..I’m n..not.” I managed to move away from him but I saw him smirk and continue to gaze at the stars. Looking up, I saw the most magnificent creation of God. Sparkling and glistering through the benighted night upon the sky.

“Sirius..” I heard Maxx mumbled, still looking in the sky

“Who’ Sirius?” curiosity strikes my mind that I wasn’t able to restrain my mouth to speak. I saw his lip twitch and he answered,

“Sirius lies between the Canis Major. It is the brightest star in the night sky. It’s so beautiful.” I reckoned my eyes to the celestial bodies and searched for the brightest and saw the most lustrous.

“It’s not beautiful… It’s breathtaking!” I smiled without hesitation.

“Yeah, it’s so beautiful just like you,” Maxx stated while beaming at me. I was caught off guard and I can feel my face turning red like a tomato. This is too much and I feel my cheeks blushing. I remain silent but my heart wants to shoot out loud! The stars in the sky just turned to be hearts, flying hearts and every one of them has Maxx’ face on it.

“Gabby…” I was chilled to the bones. Why can he even say my name in the most admirable way? And it suffices as music in my ears.

“Y…yes?” Why can’t I even answer him directly? Is this how it feels when someone confesses their true feelings to you? Or am I being too assuming about this? I can feel butterflies in my stomach right at this very moment when suddenly he looks straight into my eyes.

“You know, I love you so much that I won’t let anyone harm you.” My mouth was slightly open while still looking at him and too dumbfounded to respond.

“You know, I love you so much that I won’t let anyone harm you.”

            Those words echoed in my mind and I don’t even know what to say! I remain mute for a moment when Maxx stood up and divulged the silence.

“I want you to have this..” I felt something cold in my neck and realized that Maxx is putting a necklace. It was a silver jewelry with a dove in the center aiming to fly.

“It’s fascinating Maxx, it’s beautiful! Thank you! But it’s not my birthday. Why did you give me this?” I enunciate to ask him.

“I have another one also for me..”he said and lifted over another piece of necklace the same with what he gave me.

“They say, if you give a dove necklace for a special person close to your heart, you will never be apart from each other. Gab, this will always remind me that once in my life I have found someone like you. “He took a deep breath and continued “It also signifies friendship that will never end forever. That’s why I don’t want our friendship to be broken.”

Andeverything went blurry and my knees begin to tremble and I’m just too weak to say anything to him. I suddenly feel tears were falling from my eyes. Is this what he wants? Friendships? But I already love him more than this. I just let my feeling to flow and without saying any words, I hugged him so that he won’t be able to see every brittle of mine. Happiness turn into sadness, excitement turns into regrets.

“Hey why are you crying?” Maxx begins to worry while still hugging me.

“I.. I just realize how blessed I am to be your best friend. “ I replied, still covering up my true feelings and right now I want to shout at him and say he’s too pathetic and he can’t even feel that I am already inlove with him. Maxx faced me and he breaks the hug and held me in my arms and looked straight through my watery eyes.

“Promise me we will always be best friend forever?” It renders chiliad of emotions, comparable of being stabbed by daggers thousand and million times. It was tough to swallow the brutal fact that I will always love him more than what he wants me to. I wiped those tears, took a deep breath, and answered through my most delicate and normal voice…

“I… I pr..promise. Best friend forever Maxx.” I love you best friend. And everything fades to black.
