The day, seemed a pretty usual one with the tedious online classes starting from 9 to 1, the cool lunch break after, tuition, homework, other classes, and finally the dinner. But this dinner was something out of the odds. My father was not home yet because he had an urgent meeting in his office. After what it seemed like an eternity he finally arrived but he didn't arrive with his usual zeal he comes with everyday, neither he called us our cute nicknames he had given us and lay down on the bed in the other room. We believed he was exhausted from the meetings and probably needed some rest.
He never went to our room or what he called the ''kid's jungle'' but that day he seemed to have a special kind of reliability fixed with that room and lied down on the bed asking for extra pillows. Our mom decided to make something light and healthy since he was having a mild headache but till the time our mom made those delicious looking and mouth watering steamed vegetables he had already fallen asleep. 'Well, now we can have those vegetables' I said trying to make the whole situation a little less tensed. My mom agreed with a slight shrug and decided to prepare some dip by the side knowing that I love something extra with my meal or in this case my dad's meal.
Me and my brother weren't too stressed about the situation and continued with our daily routine until we saw our mom sitting down on the couch with a knowing not to do face. We decided to console her with all the meeting schedules that my dad goes through and how tired it makes him. After a while she decided to buy the fact that he's just tired and probably should have adequate sleep to make him better. But when we tried to sleep it was just- not okay, something felt wrong, something felt missing-It just wasn't regular.
