Placing a thick red lipstick on my lips, I smiled in front of my pocket mirror as I patiently waited for Trender, my boyfriend, on the bench of an expensive restaurant.
It's not just any expensive restaurant. I am sitting in front of the most expensive and famous restaurant in Equestria. Eating in this place was no problem when my rich boyfriend got my back. He owns one of the most popular companies nationwide, Unity Fashion Corporation, so he buys me anything I want.
As I sat comfortably on the bench, a black Ford stopped in front of the restaurant. A bodyguard climbed out of the front and quickly dashed towards the back to open the car for someone.
And there he is. A man with a faded haircut that was dyed in ash blonde, climbed out of the car looking decent on his expensive work suit.
I stood up from my seat with a smile plastered on my face. I quickly wrapped my arm around his and he gave me a peck on the side of my head.
"Dearest, did you go here alone?" He asked, politely.
"Yes, but let's not worry about that." I began, batting my eyelashes. "Shall we eat now, Trenderhoof Darling?" I spoke.
He didn't answer. Instead, he gave a nervous smile that he always does when he's hiding something from me. I knew something was wrong, and I was afraid to confront him.
But I was dying to go inside the restaurant so I could brag about the food on my social media. So, I had no choice but to ask.
"Okay, tell me what's wrong."
I arched my eyebrow while waiting for his answer. I heard him sigh. Fidgeting his fingers, he took a deep breath, finally answering my question.
"I'm sorry, Rarity." He said, placing both of his hands above my shoulders. "Can we eat somewhere else?"
"Why?" I asked, crossing my arms. "Trender, you promised me that we will eat here. What changed your mind all of a sudden?"
I looked away. He was having a hard time saying a word. It was like he wanted to say it but the word is stuck on his throat.
Then finally, he dared to speak. "My company was hacked and it went bankrupt. I can not afford this kind of restaurant at the moment." Then added, "But we can still eat somewhere fancy, alright?"
"So you're broke?" I asked.
He disapproved, "No, I still have money with me but it's not going to last long. I had to spend less from now on to save the company and-"
Staring at him while he tried his best to explain his current situation to me, I couldn't help but grin. I knew this man wasn't going to last long. He can't even handle his own company. He's like a lonely kid bribing other kids with food just so they will play with him.
"Then we are through." I said, letting go of his arms. I tried to walk away but he grabbed me by the wrist."Rarity, please don't do this..." He said in a pleading look. I gently remove his hands from my wrist.
"A deal is a deal, darling." I started, "I'll only date you if you have money."
"But I do have money!"
"Yes, but it's not enough."
His eyes began to widen. Kneeling on the ground, he held both of my hands and started begging. "Please don't. I love you, Rarity." He said, tearing up.
"If you want me to love you back, fix your company problem first." I said, removing his hands. "In the meantime, let's give each other some space." I said, patting his head.
