A love like ours

Chapter 3

Forth was tired of waiting. He couldn't sit still and do nothing anymore. It was already way past the time that Beam should have gotten home.

He abruptly stood up, startling the other two.

"Kit, please keep trying to reach his phone. I can't wait anymore. I've got to go look for him."

"Forth wait! I don't want you going alone. Ming, you go with him. I'll stay here and call you if Beam gets home."

"Sounds good. What do you say Phi?"

Forth just nodded his head and grabbed his bike keys.

"I think we should start driving towards the hospital, the same route that Beam would've taken. If he is having car trouble or something..." he trailed off.

"Yeah that sounds like a good plan."

"Let's take the bike because it's faster."

Forth walked out first. Ming kissed his boyfriend goodbye and was about to follow Forth out the door.

"Babe, please be careful!"

Ming smiled at his worried boyfriend and gave him a wink, to make him feel better.

"You bet!"

"Also make sure to keep me posted about your whereabouts!" Kit shouted after his boyfriend. Ming just waved without turning around and ran to catch up to Forth.

After Forth and Ming took off, Kit felt all the panic that he had been keeping at bay for Forth's sake, come crashing down on him. He felt dizzy with worry and wobbled his way to the couch. His panic kept building up to a point where he felt like he couldn't breathe. He was always the one to stay strong for all his friends but when alone, he could not help but crumble. Right when he was about to spiral, he heard his phone ring.

It was Pha!

"Hello! Kit! Is Beam home? What's going on?"

Kit took in rapid breaths to calm himself down, which only worried Pha more.

"Kit, what's wrong?! You're freaking me out right now. Say something or give the phone to Ming."

Kit was trying to speak but nothing came out.

Pha heard Kit's uneven breathing and realized that he was panicking.

"Kitty, I need you to take some deep breaths with me, let's do it together."

After a few minutes, he was back to breathing normally. Pha successfully talked him through it.

"Why are you alone? Where are Ming and Forth?"

Kit took another deep breath,

"Forth couldn't sit around and wait anymore, so he wanted to drive towards the hospital and possibly see if Beam was having car trouble or something and I didn't want him to be alone, so I sent Ming with him. I decided to stay back, in case he showed up."

"Oh okay, that makes sense. Kitty, ever the mom. I don't want you alone either." Pha sighed.

"Look who's talking DAD. I'm fine, but Beam won't be when I see him. I'm going to actually wring his neck. That reckless asshole!"

"I know. I feel the same way. Why would he do that. Gaaah! He's gonna make me go gray before I hit thirty."

"Actually, Forth told me why he might have been in a rush and you're not gonna like it. So buckle up."

Kit then filled Pha in on what Forth told him and waited for Pha's expletive filled rant to end before even attempting to get a word in.

"Calm the fuck down! We have enough to worry about right now. We can talk to him about this later."
