*in this AU, heros and quirks don't exist. Instead, people who are hero's in the manga are secret agents, police officers, etc.*

Crime rate is high in the world, but no more than in Japan. Despite having some of the most skilled in the forces, its over population and high expenses drive quite a few to crime. Recently, an ancient artifact from a shrine in the south had been stolen, supposedly to be sold on eBay or some other, much shadier website.
Shouta Aizawa, one of the most skilled detectives in the field, has been up to the task of finding the criminal and, if possible, their location and name.
Shouta took the job great fully, thinking it would be easy enough.
But oh was he wrong.

A bead of sweat runs down my face. I've been working in this stuffy office for hours on end, seven days a week for a month or so now.
God. I really need a coffee.
"Shouta! You still here buddy?" A tall blonde peeks into my room. It's Hizashi.
He walks up to me, a bounce in his step.
"Got you coffee! Black, just how you like it." Hizashi holds out a Starbucks cup for me. I take it quickly, slightly scalding my hands. Sipping it burns my tongue but oh god is it worth it. I stick out my tongue slightly, hoping the air might help the painful sensation the coffee left.
Hizashi giggles.
"You need a ride home? Most transports are shut off for the night y'know. And the speeder got raided last week so that's out of the-" I put a hand up, shushing him.
He's come to my office every night for the last month, knowing goddamn well I had to keep working. But- since it's been so nonstop...one break couldn't hurt..could it?

I glance at my computer, and the stacks of files and paperwork on my desk. The artifact has most likely been sold several times over and dispersed to another, more foreign country by now. It's a lost cause, I decide. After sighing I reply.
"Yeah, actually. That'd be great Hizashi." He looks like he's about to squeal. He walks out in front of me happily as I gather the things I'll need.
"Wait up, Hizashi. I've got to lock up." I grab my keys and turn off the few remaining lights, being the last one here. I go out to where Hizashi is waiting, car already started. It's a cute car, a little yellow Chevy with five to many air fresheners hanging from the mirror.
I hop into the passenger seat and we start moving.
Hizashi hums and taps his fingers as we drive. I don't feel the need to ask if he needs directions, he's been this way thousands of times I'm sure.
We drive in silence besides the humming. Hizashi hasn't even reached for the radio once.
Both of our phones ping. I don't even glance at it. Most likely another amber alert. Something too common for me to care about at this point.
I see Hizashi grab his phone from the corner of my eye. Of course the person who's driving looks at his phone.

He starts to read the alert out loud.

"A whole block of houses..."
So it's not an amber alert
"Completely destroyed.."
I start to zone out
"Bombs left by terrorists."
"Apparently aiming to kill a detective who allegedly lives in the area."
Most likely someone in our division if we're getting the alert
"List of victims follows.."
Hizashi grows quiet here,
Eyes scanning the list.
I hear his breath catch in his throat.
His voice comes out in a whisper.
"Eri and Hitoshi Aizawa."
A pit of dread forms in my stomach.
They were after me,
My own life doesn't even matter to me now.
I let out a sob I didn't know I had in me. Hizashi's words echo in my mind,
'Eri and Hitoshi.'

We keep driving.
