"And the next number is... 5!"
A redheaded girl sat on the couch, her eyes transfixed on the television, while she ate from her box of takeout Chinese.
She heard the door open, but didn't bother to look away from the coloured screen.
"Clara!"
Clara abruptly sat up straight when she heard her name being shouted from behind her. She turned her head back.
Clara's roommate, Sienna, was standing in the middle of the room with her arms folded and a raised eyebrow on her face.
"I've called your name three times already," Sienna exclaimed. She shook her head at Clara's sheepish expression and joined her on the couch.
"Why are you watching-" she squinted her eyes, "-Bingo Bonanza, anyway?"Clara nodded at the host of the show, who was now congratulating the winner. "I know this guy."
Sienna raised her eyebrows and examined the said host. He had light brown curls and sharp features. Sienna thought he looked cute.
"Yeah?" She grinned, "how well do you know him?" Sienna gave her friend a suggestive look and laughed at her horrified expression.
"Oh god no," Clara laughed. "Not like that," she slurped a string of her noodles and continued, "he used to go to my school, in fact we shared a few classes too."
She looked at Sienna with a dejected expression. "But then his parents found out that he was gay and they made him drop out."Sienna matched her friend's expression and was about to open her mouth to say something when suddenly she stopped, and focused on the television.
"What did he say?"
Clara glanced at the television and then back at Sienna. "Say what?"
Sienna raised a finger and then pointed it to the host of the show, who was making an announcement."—will repeat, the offer is valid only for today. Today, which is, Second of August,"
Sienna suddenly stood up from the couch.
"Today is August the second?" She confirmed from her friend, who nodded albeit perplexed.
Sienna took in a shaky breath and then let it out slowly. She then looked at a confused Clara, and gave her the biggest smile possible.
"Clara, I am about to meet the love of my life."
