Aftermath

The wind blew through his hair as he gazed across the barren landscape. He knew it was inevitable that he'd eventually be too late, eventually he'd find a world he couldn't save. 1 where not only was he dead, but so was the rest of humanity too.

He was being slightly dramatic. If he looked hard enough, he might find some people getting by, living out of small farms or factories, somewhere in the world. But that didn't change the fact that he had failed to save human society because he was too late.

He sighed, eyes squinting out over the ruins of the city from his position, where U.A presumably used to be, searching for the cause, and it didn't take him long to find, Shigaraki Tomura. It seems he had stayed in Japan after destroying the world. He thought it sad that in some other worlds he had been friends with that man, who had destroyed this world.

It didn't matter his connections in other worlds, he only had one option, and so now Shigaraki lay dead at his feet, the ease of it not tempering his guilt at all. But he could wallow, he had other worlds to save, he just hoped the Izuku in this world had died during the attacks, or even fighting back. He didn't want it to be another suicide, this world was bad enough already.

With his mission weighing ever heavier in his mind, he took of to the next world, hoping it would be less bleak than this one.

———————————————————————————

Izuku Midoriya, leader of the resistance, at least in Japan, stared as the mysterious man, who looked weirdly like a younger him, seemed to disappear, "Some kind of teleportation quirk?" He mutter to himself, before shaking his head. The quirk he had didn't matter, what did matter was that he had ended the threat to the world.

Izuku eyed Shigaraki's corpse, not really believing it to be real, before he turned back towards their secret base. He couldn't wait to see the look on Kacchan's face when he told him that not only was Shigaraki dead, that someone who, now he thought about it, was probably him from some other universe had been the one to do it. He let a smile appear on his face for the first time In years, since before they'd been forced into hiding.

Finally things were looking up, and he just hoped that the other Izuku realised he had actually made a difference in this world.

A/N so, I may have slightly broken the rules, but I wanted it to have a kind of uplifting ending, as much as it can be for an apocalypse au, and thought an Izuku who was not only alive, but leading a resistance was a good way to do that. Anyway I hope you enjoyed. If this gets enough attention I may do some kind of follow up, maybe with this worlds Izuku, or the traveller one, or even both. Who can know. Anyway, thank you for reading and a very big thank you for the idea whimsical_girl_357
