Blood marked the sky as the red light claimed the mountains and slowly came to possess the golden wheat fields that lied between me and my certain death. The air was calm, not the slightest breeze disturbed the awakening beast. With each passing moment the realization of my definite destiny pumped a new rush of terror through my damaged veins. My heart beat quickened as the sun tore itself up into the dark sky, it's liquid Rays ripping through the dense fog that seamed to spread forever. As the brightness stretched upward the blood of the sky leaked like poisoned ink across a dark canvass. My insides burned with adrenaline and I knew that I had two choices. I could become dust in the erupting earth or I could fight my way into absolute darkness. I strained, against the agony in my muscles, to stand. Run! I commanded my pathetic and battered body. My left leg shuffled forward, a deep shattering pain shot through every cell throughout my body. A scream built deep in my throat and began making its way to my mouth. I choked it down and demanded my right leg to move. Within seconds I was running and a new adrenaline flushed it's way into my blood stream. My teeth clenched tightly as searing pains stabbed at my broken ribs.
Suddenly, a quiet noise, resembling the deep rumble of a thousand drums began to build. Soon it sounded like the firing of countless canons and built till it was almost deafening. I ran faster and faster, my worthless attempt to escape being shattered with every precious second. Then suddenly, almost as if never had happened the noises ceased.
The silence grew till the pressure pierced my ears and I crumbled to my knees. I covered my ears as hard as I could but the ringing only increased. I looked up, convinced by defeat. The fog seamed to thin for a moment and the opening of the mountain came into view. I lifted myself from the beaten ground. I knew I had only seconds. With the last bit of energy I had I threw myself at the mouth of the entrance. That's when the bomb exploded.
