On the plane, Delia was shaken up. She tried to calm her nerves but miserably failed. She let Claudia that she would be gone for a few weeks and let her mum know that she was going to see her soon. Her mother asked if something was wrong, but Delia played it off saying it was a surprise trip for her mother's upcoming birthday.
As the plane landed, the older man and two guards led Delia out of the plane. A car escorted them somewhere and before they knew it, she was in a little run down apartment. She sat on the bed and waited for the man whose name she still didn't know. He told her that there was something very special that was going to happen tonight at a football game.
A knock on the door startled her and she stood as the door swung open. The older man walked in with a younger looking man with blonde hair and a slight beard. "What is this?" He asked.
The older man sat at a chair and looked at both at Delia and the other man. "Delia, this is John Walker. John, Delia Lucia."
"Why is he here?"
"C'mon man, I have a speech I have to remember." John said at the same time Delia spoke.
"Forget that speech, we have something better than that. You're going say that you both are getting married."
"What!?" They both exclaimed at the same time. They both glared at the older man who had a smile. "Absolutely not! I don't even know her!" John them said.
The older man sighed. "Listen, a young woman from Germany and a man from America - the next Captain America. We need to unite these two countries, and what better way then to-"
"You're being ridiculous! I'm not going to say that I'm married to him!" Delia yelled, her blood boiling.
The man turned to her with a now bored expression. "Okay, well I'll just say to the government that your mother is living here illegally. She'll be thrown out the country back to her own and she's not safe there, and you know that Delia."
Delia stopped and John looked at her. "Your mother is living here illegally?"
"Does that matter to you?" Delia spat.
"As the next and new a captain America, yes!" John stated distastefully.
Delia scoffed and stood up. "Delia, if you walk out that door then your mother's fate will be in your own hands." The older man said and Delia stopped in her tracks. She couldn't let her mum be sent back to her country, it wasn't safe for her.
Delia sighed, knowing what she was about to do would be terrible. She turned, looked at both man and sighed again. "Fine, but I'm not acting like a couple if we're alone."
"Good, because I already have a wife and she won't like this. Anyways, how does this benefit me? I could say no and I lose nothing!"
"Except for your shield and title as Captain America John, think again." The older man said and stood up. John rolled his eyes. "Good to know we're all on the same page, now grab these and learn them." The man handed both Delia and John a piece of paper with what they had to say tonight at the beginning of the game.
-
"And you're on!" The person directed Delia and John onto the field yelled. Both Delia and John walked out handing hands as scripted.People cheered and screamed all around the stadium, yelling for a Captain America. Delia panicked, she was never used to so many people eyeing her. They made their way up the steps and sat down on the spare chairs opposite the interviewer. "And look who we have here, Captain America and his new wife-to-be,..."
The interviewer handed the microphone to Delia and she panicked, she was never good at public speaking. "Delia Lucia." She said shakily.
"Well Delia, it is a pleasure to finally met the wife of the new Captain America. So John, where do I begin? How did you both meet?" The interviewer said, knowing her lines very well and was convincing everyone around her.
"Well," John grabbed Delia's hand that was on her thigh and placed it on his own, trying to make it look convincing they were together.
She wanted to rip her hand away, she felt as if she was betraying her partner. What if he was watching in his prison cell?
"We met at a small coffee shop in Germany. I cannot for the life pronounce the name of it, it when Delia told me the name when we first met, it felt as if butterflies erupted in my stomach." John spoke with a smile, Delia knew it was forced, but played along.
It was now Delia's turn to speak and she smiled and laughed gently. She was glad she took acting classes back in school. " It's Hallesches Haus and it's in Berlin. I remember knocking into him just as I grabbed my coffee," she laughed, "luckily the cup had a lid."
John laughed too, both playing along. "Aw, you guys are adorable. Now, if you wanted people to know something about the both of you, what would that be?" The interviewer asked.
John spoke then, "well, if it had to be anything, it would be that no matter what nationality people are from, we can work together and be a community as a whole."
"Yes, I agree too. I mean, I'm from Germany, John is from America. Back in World Word II, they were against each other, and even though they're not now, it shows that these two countries can work together." Delia further explained and squeezed John's hand, looking at him 'lovingly'.
"Wow you guys, what a heartwarming story. Can everyone thank John Walker and Delia Walker!" When the interviewer said Delia's last name as Walker, she wanted to punch her in the face.
This only had to last for a few minutes.
