Waking Up

I wake up in my locker to a throbbing headache. I remember what happened, and think about why they hate me.

I dress different.

I'm not a preppy girl.

I'm younger then all of them.

I was born on Halloween.

I stop thinkig when I hear the school bell. I ask myself if its the first or last bell. I hear girls screaming. End of the day. Of course. I start hitting the locker door. I can hear someone asking for the combination. I tell the voice and the door opens. I hug my savior and grab my stuff, running out of the school. I take out my ipod and slip my headphones on, quickly turning on my music as I run "home". I don't think of it as home. If you didn't already know, I live at an orphanage. My dad left when I was a baby, leaving me my mom and my sister on the streets. After about a year my mom got tired of caring for us and put me in an orphanage in Michigan, and gave my sister to our grandparents, since they only knew about her. I get to the orphanage in 20 minutes flat. I don't take the bus because I don't want people to know that I was abandoned by my own mother. I push the doors open and Sarah looks up.

"Alice! I told you to start taking the bus."

"Sorry Sarah." I yell running up the stairs.

Sarah runs this place, she took over after her mother died. I get to my room and take off my headphones. My roommate, John, looks up. He stayed here today because he had a killer headache.

After the rest of the kids got back, Sarah told all of the girls between the ages 10 and 15, to get ready, because someone was coming to adopt.
