-Sitting in the busy airport with only two bags of luggage, one a black backpack and the other a rolling suitcase, was a boy with ash grey shoulder length hair that was pulled up into a ponytail. He was dressed in black skinny jeans and a black hoodie, his fingers being weighed down by his heavy skull rings as he scrolled through his phone. Originally he was listening to music, to drown out the sounds of everyone around him, but that would make hearing the person who's supposed to pick him up even more difficult. And so, he simply let the headphones rest around his neck.
His leg started to bounce impatiently. He had just gotten off a two hour flight, and currently it was midnight. To say he was exhausted was an understatement, but this was the only time he could fly out. A notification signalling his phone was at fifthteen percent popped up, rolling his eyes and his face contorting into discontent he turned off the device and put it in his back pocket.
Looking around he tried to see if he simply glanced over the person who was supposed to pick him up, or maybe they just blended in very well. But he still couldn't find them, all he saw were adults in suits, most likely coming back from a buisness trip and an occasional kid. God he hated kids, they were snot nosed brats in his book, something that is germ filled and had no place being anywhere near him. He hated adults as well, they were power hungry, working day in and day out just to get a measly little paycheck that ultimately had little merit. It's just a piece of paper that humans put value on so they can exploit everything, even living.
"shota!" Hearing his name be called the boy instantly turned to find it's owner. It belonged to a woman who resembled him but she had long dark brown hair.
"it's nearly one a.m, did you work overtime or something?" Shota said with narrowed eyes, obviously tired as he picked up his luggage.
"is that any way to treat your mother? you haven't seen me since last summer!" The woman huffed out, slightly pushing her son, an action that was greeted with a growl.
"i couldn't even sleep because i was at the airport, can we just go?" Shota grumbled.
"oh lord! what did i do to have my son be so cold to me!" His mother dramatically said as they walked out of the airport. The mother and son walked to the car. The sounds of ridiculously loud engines drowning any attempts at conversation. After his mother popped the trunk the boy put his two bags of luggage inside. He quickly got into the front seat after a small gust of cold wind hit his body, causing him to shiver slightly. For a moment his mind went somewhere else, the night sky causing a sort of pleasant wave to wash onto him.
"how's your father doing?" His mother asked him as she started to drive off.
"good."
"that's all? nothing exciting happened?"
"if you're so curious ask him yourself."
"you know time differences are hard to work around. whenever he's not busy i am, and vice versa." His mother frowned slightly at his behavior.
"yeah yeah, whatever."
"so, any friends that are going to miss you?"
"no."
"maybe you'll make some at this new school! you should try at least, i'd hate to see you all alone in a new country."
"it's not new. i've been here before."
"maybe when you were a kid, but you haven't been here since then. you still struggle with korean."
"i know more than enough to get around."
"if you say so. i just hope you don't accidentally anger someone."
That was the last bit of conversation this car ride held. The rest of it was spent with Shota staring out the window. The night sky was clear, allowing the stars to shine. Humans kind of reminded him of stars, and not because of the reasons you think. Stars are made of gases and are extremely hot to touch, one little tweak to it's infrastructure and it'll become extremely unstable.
Human creatures are also unstable. Some seek to gain money or love, but at the root of those wants are tainted desires. Maybe they even turn to corrupt means to obtain what they want. That's why criminals exist, maybe they had a good reason to start, but it slowly became more and more corrupted. In the end humans are all the same disgusting, corrupted monsters.
Raising the his hand to his line of sight, he stared at the knuckles. The fingers without rings were cut and bruised. They were old wounds but one could easily tell what they were from. Making a fist he placed his hand on his thigh. He didn't hate the old wounds, they were just inconvenient. Putting on hand sanitizer, or simply washing your hands caused them to sting. That was the one thing he hated about them, other than that he didn't care.
The car came to a stop, parking in front of a small apartment complex. The building itself had at max four floors, only around six or seven rooms on each. It was made out of brick, a type of complex you would most likely see in a downtown area. It didn't look too bad but it was still a little bit worn down, from the weather or time who knows.
Walking to the third floor his mother unlocked the door. Opening it revealed a fully furnished, decent, one bedroom apartment. It wasn't bad, the repairments were quite obvious at one glance. But that's when Shota started to think. This was a one bed apartment, and his mother surely had enough to afford a good house. So why here?
"mom, is this where you live?" Shota asked the woman as he put down his luggage.
"no, but it will be where you'll be living. don't worry! i'll send you money every week! and if you need more just ask!" The woman said frantically trying to make the situation seem better.
"but why? isn't it cheaper to just stay with you?"
"look, i know you have a habit of violence... and i was just keeping in mind for if you have any friends over or if you get a target on your back..." The mother said almost ashamed.
"yeah i got it..."
Humans really do suck.
